Guylian Heart Box And Masters Collection Review

Reviewed by Shetho
Guylian is a Belgium company whose master chocolatiers produce a range of chocolate delicacies. The name Guylian is a combination of the names of the founders Guy Foubert and his wife Liliana who married in 1958 and used their joint passion for chocolate to create the iconic Sea Shell chocolates which are filled with roasted hazelnut praline and have a marbles dark and white chocolate exterior.
I was delighted to be gifted both the Heart Box and the Masters Collection Box to test out for the purpose of this review. I love quality chocolate so this was just an amazing opportunity for me.

The Heart Box is just as described in its name, a red heart shaped box with gold lettering and is filled with heart shaped chocolates. It looks very pretty and appealing. Inside the box, each chocolate is nestled in its own individual compartment in a plastic tray. Weighing in at 105g there was 10 chocolates in the box each filled with the Guylian signature roasted hazelnut praline and coated with marbled white and dark chocolate. I love the praline it’s so smooth and delicious and I could literally eat the whole box in one go! The filling contains sugar, white chocolate, milk powder, cocoa butter and hazelnuts which means these are not suitable for anyone with a nut allergy.

The Masters Collection is presented in a square silver and pink box with pictures of the luxury chocolate selection on the front. I found it helpful to be able to see what was on offer before trying.
The 30 mini chocolates weighing 200g are displayed in rows on a plastic tray. Also included in the box is a small leaflet giving more detail about the flavours and ingredients. The flavours offered are very different which I found to be a very welcome surprise. There are 8 different fillings:
Coffee and cardamom in a dark chocolate coating with a white chocolate squiggle
Caramel pineapple in milk chocolate with white chocolate sprinkles
Crunch hazelnut praline in milk chocolate with the Guylian name stamped in white chocolate
Mocha in white chocolate with dark chocolate sprinkles
Signature hazelnut praline in milk chocolate with the Guylian name stamped in white chocolate
Raspberry in white chocolate with fresh raspberry pieces
Orange in dark chocolate with orange peel pieces
Almond praline in milk chocolate with white chocolate piping
The Guylian website says these chocolates “are made by using carefully selected ingredients of the highest quality crafted to delicious recipes. A premium assortment of Belgium mini pralines filled with a variety of exotic flavours and topped off with fine ingredients.”
I like that the chocolates are small so I can try the wide selection without too much guilt. The flavour combinations are quite difficult but in my opinion work really well. I loved every single one, but my particular favourites were caramel pineapple and coffee cardamom.
If you are looking for silky smooth chocolate to buy as a gift for that special someone for Valentines, or a treat for your mum for a Mothering Sunday, I would recommend both of these as perfect options.
