There’s nothing better at this time of year than a warm fire and cosying up in front of the TV. We are a family who love a blanket, and when it hits early evening the kids can generally be found wandering around with one like a second skin. I tend to steal one from their room, so they were especially furious when I brought out the Bedsure Sherpa Fleece blanket just for me. Who am I kidding, it was mine for less than a minute…
Bedsure are a global brand who have been in business for over 45 years. The throw arrived vacuum packed in a red and white “Happy Holidays” box which was super cute and great if gifting this item. As soon as I opened it up it sprung into life!
The blanket comes in three designs; I chose the gingerbread green and it looks exactly as it appears on the photo. The Aventurine and Savvy Red look equally festive so it was a difficult choice. The colours are vibrant, Christmassy and the little gingerbread and wreath pictures have a cute 3D look to them. It does look amazing next to the tree, so even when not using it as a blanket it’s a lovely Christmas themed throw and really creates a seasonal vibe. I cannot describe how fluffy and soft it feels, and just so warm thanks to the soft chenille and sherpa fleece lining.
It measures 127 by 152 cm which is the perfect size when lying down on the sofa, or for a single bed as an extra layer on a cold night or again for a seasonal themed bedroom. When sitting I can get myself and two kids underneath as long as we cuddle in, so the size is great all round. It isn’t too heavy but does provides the right amount of snuggle and warmth.
On a gentle 30 degree wash it came out looking like new; the company recommends a low heat tumble dry to refresh the throw after washing, and I have to say it does give it an extra injection of fluffiness.
The £22.99 price-point is more than reasonable, making this a lovely gift idea for family or even a Secret Santa idea depending on your budget. It is currently reduced in time for Christmas too, and you can still order it in time for the big day!
In terms of safety, this Christmas Blanket is certified to Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX “meeting the highest testing criteria for harmful substances, and is safe for human use”. It does state on the label to keep away from fire, which I would expect from this type of material but it is worth a mention if you are anything like me and love to light candles during the evenings.
I did notice that there is a little bit of shedding, but this could be due it being new and it is minimal so I’m not concerned. It is one of those materials where you need to brush the material the right way otherwise it appears to have small patches but that is the nature of the chenille, and it doesn’t distract from the design in anyway. I have spent more on much thinner and smaller blankets so this is purely an observation as a reviewer and not a genuine criticism at this price-point.
This blanket has been thoroughly tested by myself and works equally well with children, pets, and the other half …but especially when alone with your favourite tipple and a cheesy Christmas movie. The thing that makes me most sad is that I should probably pack it away in the New Year until next Christmas, but I think it may linger around a while longer.
This blanket is so warm and great quality, especially at the price-point. The designs are lovely at this time of year and add a little extra festivity into the home. I would award this blanket 5 stars out of 5.
