Guilt By Degrees by Marcia Clark Review

Reviewed by David Savage

Having never read any Marcia Clark novels before I wasn’t sure what to expect when I opened this book and started to read. Now that I have finished this book I will we looking for more books by the author. Guilt By Degrees is superbly written with absorbing characters, lots of plot twists and thoroughly enjoyable.

LA Deputy District Attorney Rachel Knight with the help of her best friend Bailey investigate the murder of a homeless man after another attorney fails to follow through with the case. This leads them to the brutal murder of a LAPD policeman. Determined to solve both crimes it leads them down a very dangerous path and they will need to uncover a complex story to uncover the truth and risking their lives to do so. The deeper they investigate, more layers are revealed and showing just how dangerous their opponent is.

Overall this is a very enjoyable book. It is a very well written legal, suspense thriller. As Marcia Clark was the lead prosecutor in the OJ Simpson trial she certainly knows all the legal stuff and procedures but writes it in such a way that it is not stuffy or boring but still accurate. With its short chapters and wonderful characters it keeps you reading and wanting to know more. And with great plot twists that keep the story moving without ruining it you are kept guessing right until the end. If you like James Patterson you will love this and will not be disappointed. This is the follow up book to Guilt By Association in the Rachel Knight series.

I highly recommend this book.
