Green People Natural and Organic Christmas Gifts Review

Reviewed by Hannah Chan

I was really excited to try the new Christmas range from Green People as we already use their sun cream and love it. It’s the only one our daughter can use as she’s allergic to seven other brands, but because of their natural and plant-based ingredients and no added nasties it doesn’t bother her.

When the package arrived I was happy to see that it was packed in cardboard and potato starch packaging beads (which dissolve in water and can be eaten, although I’m not sure you’d want to but it’s good for peace of mind if a little or a pet decides to have a nibble). All packaging can be home composted so this fits in perfectly with them being an ethical company.

Green People products have won 160 awards across the board, only use fairly traded products and a very high percentage of these are organic, usually between 80 and 99%. Their products are cruelty free and vegan so are a perfect Christmas gift for a friend or relative who is eco-conscious! They’re recommended by many organisations including the Vegan Society, PETA and The Soil Association. Their products never contain gluten, parabens, or sls so are great for those with skin allergies.

I tried products from their new Christmas range, and was very pleasantly surprised.

Cleanse & Buff for Men 30ml – This facial exfoliator is the perfect size for a Christmas stocking. Tailored specially for men and in a stylish black and silver box it retails for £10 and has 90% organic ingredients.

I had my hubby try this and he isn’t usually one for skin care, but he really liked the smell and the feel of the exfoliator. The grapefruit tones really cone through and leave the skin smelling fresh after rinsing. It isn’t oily or gritty and has just the right amount of scrub. It also has bamboo pure clay in it for any stubborn spots or blackheads. After just a couple of days hubby said his skin felt fresher. He works in the city so his skin sometimes feels like it hasn’t been washed at all, but after using this it felt cleaner for much longer and I could still smell it on him when he came home so I think the price tag is definitely worth it and it has converted him! I might even use it myself as I really like the feel of it when washing my face with it.

Everyday Organics – This was a small selection box with three items inside. It retails at £15 which for the products inside is really good value for money as they lasted such a long time. The box says the products are 85% organic but that’s because the day cream is, the others are higher.

  • Gentle cleanse and makeup remover 30ml – This is a hidden gem. It takes off the makeup cleanly and you don’t really need a lot of it at all. I used it on reusable face wipes (crocheted with yarn) and it worked really well with these! It has a nice scent but not overpowering.
  • Day solution cream SPF15 10ml – This lovely little cream has basic sun protection for those (like me) who do forget to use it, so you’re covered! It’s not greasy and after being rubbed in don’t leave any residue or oily feeling behind. It has a very subtle scent too which was quite floral.
  • Fruit scrub and exfoliator 30ml – I love a good facial scrub and this doesn’t disappoint. I sometimes have mild reactions to facial scrubs depending on the ingredients but didn’t react at all to this one. It has tiny particles of clay and bamboo which like the men’s cleanser left my skin feeling fresh but with a more orange smell to it. I loved the smell of the exfoliator and would definitely keep using it.

Overall as a skin care routine I love it, although some of the scents are cancelled out by others so don’t expect to smell the exfoliator for long if applying the moisturiser straight away (I however live in the moment and enjoy every smell as it goes on! So my advice would be to use them anyway and just enjoy them).

Cosy Hands Nourishing Skin Treat Manuka and Lemon Tea Tree 30ml  – This one was my absolute favourite! I have really dry hands, with small children I am constantly washing and drying my hands which means they are quite hard to keep smooth especially in the winter (when they often crack). This moisturiser is perfect for dry hands and rubs in quickly so you can get on with whatever you need to get on with and doesn’t leave your skin feel slippery like some moisturisers. It is also 91% organic and retails for £8.50. It is also the perfect size to fit inside my handbag which is a huge bonus.

If had to mention anything it would be that they are plastic tubes that they come in, but this is for contamination safety and after a bit of research into it I found that they are 100% recyclable and are checked by the soil association, EcoCert and the organic food federation who are very invested in the health of our planet. The company also use renewable energy to power their factories and warehouses.

There is a whole host of amazing organic, cruelty free and vegan products on their website including moisturisers, skin scrubs, shaving creams, suntan lotions and shampoos.

This year has been a huge one in the eco-friendly world, and I think this range with its ethics and ingredients are a fabulous idea for Christmas gifts especially for those who are hard to buy for!
