I attended the above last night with my 9 year old daughter. A few words will illustrate the entire evening, great fun and highly entertaining for a totally different night out!
On entering the foyer we immediately noticed several groups of ladies including hens of all ages dressed as the Pink Ladies, some dressed as Sandy in brilliant costumes and wigs! Dressing up wasn’t compulsory but an added advantage for more fun. The host judges a fancy dress competition to get everyone into the swing of things along with a pre-show of around ½ hour before the start of the film.
There was an instant buzz when we entered the theatre to find our seats which were in Stalls G9 with great views. Everybody was giving a fun goody bag containing props, I thought on examining the contents seemed a bit suspicious and wondered what fun and games were planned. Later on all was revealed. The lady host who introduced the show was a very lively character and instantly had the audience involved and laughing away with a practice run of some of the lyrics to the songs. This was the first sing-a-long I had been to and wasn’t entirely sure what to expect and my daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, it was so much better than I thought so that was a real bonus. Upon the film starting there was what reminded me of a karaoke resemblance. Throughout the film each and every one of the audience sang, and danced and jived away so I wouldn’t recommend to anyone that it shy as the audience fully participate for most of the evening. It was obvious everyone wanted to be there and everyone was in high spirits still singing away and lots of photos were being taken after the show. There was lots of children too.
A great evening, I would definitely book up again and recommend for groups of friends for a good laugh. There’s lots of surprises too. Good value and a real bonus watching an old favourite film with such amazing songs and great storyline. Brought back great memories from when the film was first launched to our big screens in 1978. I forgot how good this film was and was a real joy to watch again especially with my daughter who is 9 considering I was 9 when I first went to see this with my parents all those years ago.
Not to be missed, I hope you have just as much fun if you attend any of the sing-a-longs!
Running times for the show was 2 hrs 40 mins with an interval of around 15/20 minutes
