Last night (28 August 2017), we were at Milton Keynes Theatre to watch Grease the Musical on opening night. Milton Keynes Theatre is a lovely theatre situated in a great place with nearby restaurants and ample parking facilities.
Arriving it was nice to see some of the audience dressed as Pink Ladies and even we saw a seven-year-old T-Bird! We took to our seats which had a great view, hoping the show lived up to our expectations.
We were not disappointed. The curtain went up to show the orchestra above the stage, they played a medley of Grease favourites which warmed us up for what was to come. All our favourites tunes sampled. We were ready! What was not to love, the story… well we all know the story.
Danny, played by Tom Parker of The Wanted Fame, alongside Sandy, played by Danielle Hope winner of the BBCs Over the Rainbow, and Rizzo, played by Louisa Lytton of EastEnders, led a very talented cast telling the love story between Danny and Sandy. I’ve yet to see better dancing and singing by the whole cast of a show. Fabulous outfits complemented the fabulous cast. Standout singers for me, Tom Senior as Kenickie and Ryan Herman as Doody. Loved, loved, loved We Go Together. Watching the whole cast made me want to jump up and join them on stage. Of course, favourites Beauty School Dropout, Grease Lightening and You’re the One That I Want were also highlights.
All the hits you expect are in the show and my favourite character would be Rizzo, Louisa Lytton certainly did her justice in the singing department and is a star in the making for the stage. I love Grease and this show certainly had everything I was singing and dancing right there with them, I could watch it again and again, the whole cast were amazing and it was Greasetastic for me.
