Grangers Footwear Care Kit Review

The start of Spring is near! The weather is getting (slightly) nicer and all the spring bulbs are starting to appear. So what better way to start the season than by spring cleaning? It is the perfect time to go through everything and make sure all the items in your house are lovely and clean. One of the items I always forget to clean are all my outdoor shoes so I was really excited to get the chance to try Grangers Footwear Care Kit!

This all-in-one kit comes with four items – a footwear+ gear cleaner, a footwear repel plus (spray -on formula), an odour eliminator and a footwear brush so perfect for all your outdoor footwear cleaning needs. Grangers is a British company based on the edge of the Peak District which does a wide variety of products including items which help protect and clean clothes, footwear and camping and equine equipment as well as wipes and hand sanitiser. They are really keen on the environment and sustainability and all their bottles are 100% recyclable.

The kit arrived in a cardboard shoebox (so easily recyclable) with a smaller cardboard box inside. The box has the four items in it and nothing else so great to see (as a company that champions sustainability) that they have cut down on excess packaging. I first tried the footwear+gear cleaner on my walking boots. The instructions are on the bottle and It says to use the brush to first clean off any excess dirt and to then spray all over (using a brush if needed) and then remove any excess product and lightly rinse. Really easy instructions that left my walking boots looking very clean. I also love that not only does this spray-on cleaner easily remove the dirt but it also maintains existing repellency and it even says on the bottle that it is suitable for gore-tex which is great.

After the footwear+gear cleaner I used the footwear repel plus (which on the instructions on the bottle does say to use the cleaner first or on clean shoes) and again I was happy with how easy it was to use and then how good the product was.

The only slight disappointment was the odour eliminator – if your footwear is only a little bit smelly then it works well and doesn’t mask the odour but instead eliminates it. It also says on the kit that this doesn’t just need to be used on shoes but could be used on sleeping bags or gloves etc – any item which is hard to wash/ not washable and is starting to get smelly. However, I did try it on my husband’s football boots and even after a lot of spraying they still didn’t smell nice. But they were really bad so maybe nothing would work on them!

For anyone who has any kind of outdoor shoes which get dirty then this is the kit for you! It will allow you to easily look after your shoes and not only keep them clean but by using the footwear repel plus you will hopefully also prolong the life of them!
