Easter is just around the corner and I am ready to bring on the chocolate! I was sent a Gava Reusable Swedish Easter Egg to review. The item arrived promptly and in perfect condition.

First impressions on opening the box was it would make a pretty gift, the egg has a sweet Peter Rabbit design and was sitting in a smart presentation box, no plastic and fully recyclable.

On opening the box I was initially surprised and in my opinion it seems the egg is upside down (pointy bit down rather than up), I must admit for some reason I was also expecting the egg to be made of tin but it was in fact formed from thick cardboard. It is quite strong and sturdy but if gifting to a small child it would get squished fairly quickly.

The egg opens in half as you would expect and inside is a pick n mix chocolate bag tied prettily with a black ribbon. The chocolates inside were fun shapes, cars, teddy bears, hearts and buttons all in different flavours such as plain, caramel, banana mallow to name a few and after a brief taste test I can confirm these were delicious and kids would love the fun variety.

I love the concept of a reusable Easter Egg and we are always looking for new ways to reduce our waste where we can so this would be a good option over Easter, I can see myself next year choosing different treats to put inside the egg and gift, however I’m just not sure how many uses the cardboard will sustain.

This does seem to have been considered as I noticed on the website that Gava do make reusable tin eggs too, which would probably be more appropriate in my household.

I absolutely adore the Peter Rabbit picture on the egg and there are various other designs available on the website which would be a lovely thing to collect and reuse each year.

When you order you can even choose what to put inside, you can choose from Chocolate mix, Vegan pick n mix, Swedish pick n mix, Mini gin and tonic, Salty liquorice or chocolate truffles. It’s lovely that you can choose and the sweets would make a nice alternative for those with dietary requirements particularly as the Easter market is heavily dominated by chocolate.

They are currently available to buy for £9.50 which is a reasonable price considering you get a keepsake of the egg and even better they are currently on offer 3 for 2 for all the Beatrix Potter range (price and offer were correct at the time of writing the review).

I hadn’t heard of Gava prior to being sent the item, they are a Swedish company and have a really fun range of eggs which are lovely to look at. I love their nature range in particular the pretty floral patterns. It’s definitely worth checking out their website for Easter gift inspiration.
