Frontier The Weird Wild West by Jason Cobley Review

Reviewed by Shelley East
The weird wild west!?! This book is just that! Weird, but in a good way!
Daisy and Mitch are an unlikely duo searching for revenge against Hallam Brook for killing their parents. On their travels they come across werewolves, a cave mother and a monster cactus. Set in 1866 the two become superhero’s in this comic book that opens your mind to a world of danger and imagination. The comic is full of adventure and weirdness. Every event has a twist and turn with lots of detailed artistry to keep you engrossed in what will happen next. The book is a comic for all ages but I really think it’s an ideal read for older children with good reading skills to be able to understand the concept and how the diary entries from Daisy are important in defining her character within the comic. It is very easy to warm to her as she is the heart of the story and longs for a family.
An absolutely fascinating read in the world of make believe. Or is this true?!? Did this comic capture the history of the Wild West in 1866? A strange western tale that catches your imagination and will be loved by boys and the grown up kids lurking inside men who loved comics during their youth!
