My husband and I went to our Local Frankie & Benny’s on the Greyhound Retail Park in Chester with our two children (aged 10 and 4) to review the new menu. We have been to this restaurant before but not for at least 12 months.
The venue is sited on the Chester Greyhound Park so access is easy to the area and car parking facilities are ample for the restaurant.
We arrived 10 minutes early to give ourselves time to find out exactly the procedure we needed to follow and were welcomed by Michelle who was extremely helpful from the moment we walked through the door.
We were allocated a table in the centre of the dining area, which was fairly busy for a 5pm on a Tuesday evening, there was low music playing in the background and we could also see the chefs preparing the food in the kitchen area, our children were impressed with how organised they all seemed to be.
After taking our drinks orders (2 Pepsi’s, 1 orange Tango and a Missy Licious cocktail for our youngest) and handing us our menus, Michelle introduced us to the restaurant manager who welcomed us to Frankie & Benny’s and wished us a pleasant visit and handed the children an activity pack to concentrate on whilst waiting for our food.
After much deliberation over a decent sized and varied menu I chose the Chicago Grinder, a beef and pork meatballs, pepperoni, chicken, red onion, sweetcorn and red peppers Calzone topped with mozzarella and BBQ sauce.
My husband opted for the Rigatoni Manzo, meatballs, chicken, streaky bacon, green chilli and rigatoni pasta with Neapolitan sauce topped with mozzarella and crunchy cheese crumb.
Our children who had a choice of two menus, the kids or the juniors (for kids with a larger appetite) chose the ribs and fries, a good sized ½ rack of pork ribs glazed with BBQ sauce and fries, served with either baked beans, vegetables or salad and our youngest who is a huge spaghetti fan went for the Spaghetti Bolognese.
Our meals arrived within about 10 minutes of ordering and were piping hot when delivered to our table, after all taste testing each other’s selections and deliberating over who had made the wisest choice we all tucked in.
Michelle made a few stops at our table to make sure everything was ok for us and if we needed any further drinks or condiments whilst we ate.
A full Mum and Dad opted out of a dessert but the kids chose the strawberry ice cream sundae and the chocolate brownie sundae, we did for reviewing purposes have a small taste of the desserts much to the kids delight as you can imagine!! And to agree that they were delicious.
Our overall verdict was that the food was fabulous (4 empty plates ), the restaurant was clean and tidy, the staff were fantastic, very helpful and friendly especially with our children.
Our daughter noticed one of the toilets did require some cleaning when she went and upon telling the staff this was acted upon straightaway.
A very enjoyable evening and a restaurant we would most certainly return to again in the near future.
