Finding Your Bridal Style
When you get married, your big day should be all about you and your other half. Yes, you want your guests to have the most wonderful day, and you want to involve your families and friends. But ultimately, your day should reflect you. As a bride to be, you may already have ideas about what you want to look like, but here are some tips to help you find your individual bridal style.
Choosing the perfect dress
When you think about wedding dresses, you may imagine princess-style ball gowns or traditional lace dresses. There’s nothing wrong with going for something traditional, but if this isn’t your style, don’t be afraid to break the mould. Today, wedding dresses come in all shapes and sizes, and this is the part of the ceremony you can really make your own. If you don’t want the tumbling train or the floor-length veil, there’s no written commandment that every bride has to look a certain way on their day. If you want to wear a short dress, a heavily beaded occasion-style gown or a 60’s style prom dress, go for it. If you know exactly what you want, you could visit a dressmaker and come up with sketches to design your custom-made dress. If you’re not sure, visit some boutiques, and try some different styles on. See how you feel in each gown, and go for a dress that fits your personality and complements your unique sense of style.
Wedding jewellery
Adding jewellery to your bridal look can really finish it off in style. If you’ve got a relatively plain or simple dress, adding a necklace or some drop earrings can give it the wow factor. Using jewellery can also make your look unique. Lots of brides go for similar gowns, but the overall look may be completely different as a result of the way the gown is accessorised. Think about the kind of accessories you want to wear on the day. If you’ve got a very detailed dress or a high neckline, you probably don’t want a show-stopping collar or oversized earrings. Keep things simple with a pair of stud earrings, a bangle and of course, your brand new wedding ring. When you’re shopping for wedding bands, bear your engagement ring in mind. With customised engagement rings, it may be best to design your own wedding ring. If you have a large stone, for example, you can design a ring to fit around it. You don’t have to go for understated on your wedding day. If you’re a fan of the concept of more is more, and you like to glam up, there’s nothing wrong with being bolder with your jewellery. Try some different pieces on with your gown, and see how you feel.
Bridal makeup
On your wedding day, you want to look like you. If you don’t normally wear a huge amount of makeup, don’t feel that you have to have a full-blown makeover on the day. Likewise, if you love experimenting with makeup, you don’t have to go for the barely-there look.
If you’re planning your bridal look, it’s important to find and celebrate your style. Be as individual as you like. As long as you feel confident and you love your look, that’s all that matters.
