Feed Your Family for £70 Christmas Shopping Challenge Review

Reviewed by Louisa Nashir

Christmas time is always a strain on your purse/wallet with present buying, food, cards etc. not to mention the extra guests in your home over the festive season.

Aldi really does come up trumps though with their top notch food and super low prices meaning you can feed your family and any extra guests with ease and at very little expense.

I am sure I am not alone when I say I like to splash out at Christmas especially with food and drink. It’s a real cost time to be with family enjoying delicious food and making memories.

This year we had 7 people for Christmas lunch and supper and 5 people for Boxing Day so my husband and I planned what we needed to buy before heading off to our local Aldi store in Eccles, Manchester.

The store was busy when we arrived but it was not stressful at all! In fact the shopping was the least stressful Christmas shop we have done before.

We found everything on the list and stocked up on the super 6 (potatoes, sprouts, carrots, parsnips etc.), herbs, gravy, stuffing and a few naughty sweet treats including the Specially Selected Florentines selection, chocolate coins, mince pies, Christmas cake topped with nuts and fruit, chocolate Santa’s and reindeers and a very festive looking Pandora which looked so beautiful and too good to eat when we sliced it and sprinkled icing sugar over it.

For our Christmas Day meal we enjoyed turkey and all the trimmings with a glass of Buck’s Fizz followed by Christmas pudding and brandy sauce. Later in the evening we enjoyed a cheese board, grapes, crackers and olives whilst playing board games. It was a lovely relaxed day and we were full and satisfied.

On Boxing Day we used our leftover turkey to make simple turkey sandwiches with cranberry sauce and we laid out a selection of nibbles to enjoy as a buffet lunch.

Any leftovers were wrapped up and put back into the fridge to nibble on over the festive period and we still have a lot of goodies left to enjoy and make into delicious meals including a turkey and vegetable pie which was enjoyed by all.

As you can see we really did have some lovely treats to enjoy over Christmas and fed our guests without breaking the bank or scrimping on portion sizes.

Aldi really is the place to shops whatever the season as the foods are fabulous and filling and will save you a fortune!

Thanks Aldi for a superb Christmas.
