The Most Annoying Things About Owning A Car All Parents Can Relate To

If you’re like most parents, it’s highly likely that the most stress you feel on any given day is in the car (or the supermarket). There’s just something infuriating about being confined to a tiny little box, hardly moving, and with kids screaming in the back.

But it’s not just you; it’s your friends too. In fact, it’s their friends as well. When it comes to driving, we all end up feeling exasperated from time to time. Here’re some of the most annoying things about owning a car, any parents can relate to.

Getting The Car Serviced

Most local service garages know that their service isn’t exactly on most people’s wish list. But they do what they can to make life a little more convenient for their customers. They’ll email us reminders throughout the year about when our cars need servicing. And they’ll send us friendly text messages when our car is due for a service. But despite all their effort to prepare us well in advance, there never is a right time for a service. Just a couple of hours in the service shop is often enough to derail an entire day at work. And for people who work in the service sector themselves, that can be a real headache. When the final bill comes, it’s rarely good news either. That holiday you wanted? It’s going to have to wait.

Making Dreaded Fuel Mistakes

A lot of us drive our cars first thing in the morning. We do it on the way to work, or on the way to the shops. And, often, we’re not quite fully awake. Sure, we can drive okay. We’ve been doing it so long; it’s as natural as walking. But when it comes to navigating the pumps at the petrol station: that’s when things start to go wrong.

If we’re honest, it’s something that’s happened to all of us. We’ve picked up the wrong pump and filled our car with the wrong fuel. Fortunately, these days there are specialists in wrong fuel removal. But it’s a mistake that most of us would rather avoid. Perhaps a little extra coffee in the morning would do the trick?

Sharing The Road

No matter how long any of us drive, the level of idiocy on the road never ceases to amaze. One minute you’re happily trundling along in your family saloon. The next, somebody has pulled out in front of you. What’s more, they act like you’re the one who’s at fault.

Not even a simple visit to the shops is without the perils of interacting with other drivers. You could have sworn that you left your car in the car park without a massive dent in the side. But when you returned, there it was, as clear as day.

It’s little things like this that really get on our nerves. But perhaps we can learn something from those who spend their lives on the road. Bus drivers seem to be impervious to driving foolishness. No matter what happens on the road, they appear to remain calm and collected. It’s truly zen to watch.
