Elegant Touch False Nails Review

Reviewed by Helen Wyatt
I’ve mentioned in reviews before that I’m not one for traditional girlie beauty activities but saw the Elegant Touch false nails and thought it was worth a shot to see how easily I could glam myself up! I was very excited to open such a large parcel in which I received not one, but five different sets of nails! They were in two different shape options – stiletto, which has a pointier end, and the rather spookily named coffin, which is sort of squared off on the top. I received four different styles from the “Luxe Looks” collection, which were called Glow’d Up (fuscia with gold detailing), Total Sass (sparkly teal), Glitter Bae (light pink with rainbow glitter), and Gue$t List (sparkly dark/light pink). I also received a set called What the Elf? Which are the cutest nails I’ve ever seen, with Santa and elf hats printed on them!
Each box contains 24 nails and superglue to attach them. The box states you get “up to 10 days of awesome” and with the 24 nails there are 12 different sizes to cater for all fingernail shapes. The back of the box describes it as a “manicure in minutes”, with simple pictorial instructions: prep, check sizes, glue, angle the nail and press on. It also directs nail newbies (which I very much am) to their various media channels for hot tips online. I immediately went to the website to hunt for application tips, but unfortunately struggled to find anything. I then went to YouTube and was able to find application tips much more easily. There was a short video, clearly showing what you needed to do in order to successfully apply the nails, so off I went.
Initially you buff your nails to prep the surface, then you sort through all the sizes to find the ones you need. Once you have done this, you apply glue to your nail, glue to the false nail, angle it on from the base and then press down for 15 seconds! Simple! For the first hand it really was simple, and I could easily apply all five. I didn’t manage to apply quite the right sizes on a couple of nails though, and I’m not great at sticking them on straight, but for a first go I was quite impressed. The nails really do immediately improve your own nails and stick fast!
Moving on to my second hand was the tricky part, as I was now trying to hold false nails with my non dominant left hand which already had long nails applied! Not particularly easy… I found I had glue on my fingers accidentally at one point which meant I got into a bit of a sticky mess, but I managed to extricate myself from them quite quickly. I think nail newbies would do best getting someone else to apply these for you! I certainly found it really hard once I got to the end of my second hand as I just wasn’t used to handling the nails with false nails already applied.
They do dry very quickly and do stick fast so if you’re more dextrous than I am, you could be ready for a night out in a few minutes (well, your nails would be anyway)! I thought I would then test them by going out – nothing fancy I’m afraid, but I drove successfully without them being an issue, and was even complimented on them at one point by a stranger!

I did encounter some trouble later on, when I lost one of my nails without realising it (which I found again later!) and then I decided I didn’t really like the sensation of the false nails pressing on my own nails so wanted to remove them. You’re supposed to leave them for around 10 days, but the packaging doesn’t explain how to remove them. When I looked on the YouTube channel I also couldn’t find any instructions on how to remove them at all, which is unfortunate. I ended up looking up some other instructions which suggested soaking your nails in nail varnish remover for several minutes so I tried this, in order to soften up the glue. This was a bit of a messy process as it also dissolved some of the varnish on the nail as well, and took a LOT longer to remove than to apply. I was perhaps a bit impatient in the end but I found the removal really uncomfortable and I was very glad once the tenth nail was off. I still unfortunately had glue on my nails which I didn’t know how to remove. Some more information in the packaging or on the website would have been really helpful.
These nails really look lovely, and for someone who isn’t a complete newbie would be a cinch to apply. These would therefore be an excellent stocking filler for someone who loves to glam up and perhaps has a bit of false nail experience, or for anyone who wants to get together for a pre-Christmas night out as you could all help each other to apply them much more easily than I could on my own!
