The story of Dreamboats and Miniskirts is the sequel to Dreamboats and Petticoats which was a 7 smash hit multi-million selling album.

It is the continuing story of Bobby & Laura and Norman & Sue in 1962-1963. Laura is a songwriter and Bobby is a singer they a have a single which was successful but now they are not having much success.

While Norman and Sue are live happily in non-married bliss and Sue is a pregnant and Norman works down the drains and has temporarily given up singing.

The story is based in Mungo’s the home of Bobby and Laura’s, Dreamboat and Miniskirts where all their friends and the group hang out. The music scene is changing with the sounds of the Beatles and other bands. This is giving the group to look for new sounds that will give them further success. One of the group called Ray wants to manage a really good sounding act. It shows the group Conquests asking Bobby to rejoin their group and he takes a piece of music taken from Laura who wrote the song for them to sing, for him and the Conquest to sing which caused a break up in their relationship. The rest of the story shows how the group go on tour around the country with Ray as their manager. Laura going off in her own success and how everyone all coming together in their various successes.

The music is great throughout the show, it’s nostalgic and you find yourself clapping all to the wonderful tunes the great atmosphere of the audience enjoying the beats.

I did not see the first hit Dreamboats and Petticoats which did not make any difference as it was a story in its own right.

The Empire was clean, plenty of staff to help you if you need anything and they were only happy to help. There are plenty refreshments available around the theatre also having ice creams in the interval. I am disabled and the staff were very helpful in getting me to my seat and anything else I required.

I would have no hesitation in recommending the Empire Theatre for a great night out and Dreamboats and Miniskirts as a show to see.
