To anyone with children Paultons Park is a must go attraction, a well laid out Family Theme Park where you can easily keep you children entertained for a whole day or more with the variety of rides, attractions and surrounding grounds. However to anyone with children under the age of seven I think it may be better known as PEPPA PIG WORLD, and yes it was said in shouting enthusiasm from my four year old when I told him where we were going.

One entrance fee, but in reality two theme parks. One dedicated to all things Peppa Pig and one your more traditional theme park. Truly something for all the family.

We visited the park on a Friday during term time. Our group consisted of two adults and two children aged 4½ years old.

When arriving at the park by car, the car park was clearly marked with attendants directing us where to park to ensure the car park filling up concisely and saving you having to drive around to find an empty space.  From the car park it’s a one minute walk to the ticket booth, here you can either purchase your on the day tickets, if you have pre-booked ones simply head straight to the entrance gates. We arrived at the parks opening time and only had to queue for two minutes before an entrance gate became available. Make sure you have purchased the correct ticket for your child as they are measured when entering the park and for some of the rides. Tickets are free for children under 1 metre.

Once through the gate, there was no stopping our excitable boys who wanted to head straight to Peppa Pig World, bypassing a lot of eye catching attractions on the way! Both children’s excitement levels were cranked up a notch once we arrived at the ‘Peppa Pig World’ sign indicating you are entering all things Peppa. Once you enter it is like you have stepped foot into the cartoon and it has come to life. Many of the recognisable houses, vehicles and scenes from the cartoon have been replicated throughout the park. You can walk through Peppa’s house, take a drive in Daddy Pig’s car, hop on George’s dinosaur for a ride through the gardens to name a few. My son particularly enjoyed the Windy Castle, Miss Rabbits Helicopter flight and Peppa’s balloon ride’s (basically anything that got him up in the air!). Peppa’s world compromises of not just Peppa themed rides but also has a play park, muddy puddles splash park, souvenir shop, soft play, and various food outlets to grab a bite of food or a drink. What really makes Peppa World stand out, is the grounds and gardens that it is situated in, everything is landscaped to look like the cartoon from the grass and flowers to the allotments that you ride through on the tractor, a lovely finishing touch.

Of course Peppa world would not be complete without a visit from Peppa and George, these happen at scheduled times so you don’t have to worry about missing out. We went to the 3pm one and there was plenty of time for cuddles and photos with the characters.

As we visited Paultons during term time Peppa Pig world seemed to be the most popular part of the park due to most the children being pre-school age. Even with this popularity the most we had to queue for rides was ten minutes which is a relief as the concept of orderly queuing to 4 year old boys is lost! Towards the end of the day we even managed to walk straight on to a lot of rides, which resulted in multiple goes on some of the favourites.

After a couple of hours spent in this part of the theme park we managed to persuade our boys to adventure out of Peppa World and go explore the rest of the theme park. Instantly both boys had seen other rides that they wanted to go on straight away. The first being the newly opened Critters Creek section which contained lots of creepy crawly themed adventures to keep the boys occupied. Beastie Burrow got you up close to some of the creepy crawlies that the rides had been designed around, thankfully for me not too close and behind glass!

I was pleasantly surprised by the quantity of rides that were suitable for our age children, I thought most of the smaller rides would have been contained to Peppa Pig World but no, there was plenty for us to see and do in the Paultons part of the park. Big hits were the Victorian Carousel, Teacup ride, Viking Boats and the Cat-o-pillar roller coaster (all went on multiple times!). A walk through the parks gardens and aviary led us to the part of the theme park with some of the more thrill seeking rides to keep the older children satisfied. The Cobra, Edge and Magma are some of the parks more impressive rides and would keep any of the adventurous older children satisfied. A nice touch was having the Bouncy castle and trampolines situated here so the littler children don’t feel left out.

Staff throughout the park are courteous, friendly and willing to help with any queries you may have. The grounds are beautifully maintained throughout Paultons Park, giving arise to plenty of locations for a sit down or picnic outdoors. If the weather is not so favourable and you have come prepared with a picnic there is designated seating areas outdoors but under cover to keep you sheltered. The main restaurant on site (Wildwoods) is reasonably priced, and the food was a good standard, better than what you would usually expect at a theme park! Lots of food kiosks are situated throughout the park catering for your usual fast food options and ice creams.

You can easily see why Paultons Park is one of the UK’s leading theme parks. We had a lovely day out and I would not hesitate to come back, a clean, well laid out theme park with something to keep everyone in the family happy.
