I was really excited to receive Dr Jackson’s 03 Everyday Oil as part of a Dr Jackson’s bundle to review. I am always keen to try something new, to see if I should add it to my daily skincare regime and being a mum of two young children, I very rarely have an opportunity to try out new products like this.
The Everyday Oil arrived in a small natural-looking cardboard box, which immediately made me feel that the product inside would be equally as ‘natural’. The absence of single-use plastic in the packaging, was a refreshing change too. The writing on the box gave me a clear indication of what was inside – a nourishing blend of 100% natural oils for the face and body, ingredients and directions for use, albeit in very small writing!
From the logos printed down the side of the box, I could also see the product is vegan friendly, cruelty-free, paraben free and suitable for all genders. I also became aware that Dr Jackson’s supports 1% for the Planet, which is a global network of businesses, individuals and environmental organisations tackling our Planet’s most pressing environmental issues. Businesses give 1% of their sales back to the environment. Which is a great initiative and demonstrates the business is environmentally and socially responsible, which is such an important matter these days and a really strong selling point.
When I opened the box I found a small, attractive-looking glass bottle of the Everyday Oil, with a shiny black lid. Perfect size to be carried ‘on the go’ or taken on holiday. When I unscrewed the lid, I noted that it was a roll-on design. This is where I found a bit of a downside to this particular format, as although in theory, the roll-on should assist in controlling how much of the product comes out at any one time, I found it extremely difficult to get much product out of the bottle at all. Despite giving it a shake and trying to get it to flow, I had to be careful not to press too hard on my skin. As far as I can tell, the larger product format, has something similar to a pipette dispenser, which I think would be much easier.
The product is multi-use and can be used on the face, body, nails, cuticles and hair, to condition, soothe and protect. It can be used to reduce the appearance of scars, stretch marks and blemishes and can also be used to reduce the signs of ageing.
The product not only contains Vitamin E, potassium & zinc, but is also packed full of nutrient-rich botanicals, which each boast specific benefits:
• Murula seed oil which hydrates and revitalises by deeply moisturising
• Baobab seed oil protects the skin from environmental pollutants, promoting smooth & youthful skin
• Calendula oil soothes and revives whilst protecting and calming the complexion
• Arnica helps to heal troubled skin acting as an anti-inflammatory
Despite the product being oil, it felt lightweight, soft and silky on my skin and not at all greasy, as might have been the case. Having suffered with acne for a big chunk of my early adult life, I was interested to read that clinical trials have confirmed that the product is suitable for acne-prone skin. In fact it’s suitable for all skin types. Not only did I use the product on my face, mainly as part of my bed-time beauty regime, I also rolled some oil onto my cuticles and massaged it on. The oil absorbed really quickly, so I didn’t have to worry about it transferring to my pillow.
The smell of the product was generally pleasant, but I can imagine it may be over-powering for some people, who are more used to a softer scent or fragrance free product.
Dr Jackson’s are Leaping Bunny Certified, meaning that they their products are not tested on animals across the whole supply chain. The product is also Vegan friendly. Both of which are massive selling points for the products. The company is also committed to the Environment and won Eco Brand of the Year at The Beauty Shortlist Awards 2021 and Best Zero Waste Brand and Plastic-Free Brand at the Beauty Shortlist Awards 2020.
Dr Jackson’s 03 Everyday Oil is available in 2 sizes (10ml and 25ml). The travel size (10ml) retails for £15 and the full size (25ml) retails for £39. Their website offers 15% off your first purchase, with free delivery over £45. I would say that the price point for this product is on the higher end of the scale, although the product has been very good over the limited time that I have been using it. I would definitely recommend it to friends and family and I think it would make a really lovely present for a special person in your life, if you’re looking for something a bit different.
Rating: 4/5 mainly on the basis that it is difficult to dispense the product via the roll-on
RRP: £15 for travel size 10ml, £39 for 25ml
