The K’NEX 521 piece Building World arrived in a fabulous storage box, bright red with K’NEX labelling on the exterior so you know what’s in it and it doesn’t get lost amongst the other toys

The box itself is big and on first opening did appear to be very spacious however  the box is large enough to store part made or complete items as well as further purchases of K’NEX to ensure the collection stays together and is ready for play.

Inside the box were 6 individually wrapped packets containing 520 pieces and an instruction booklet that detailed the contents of the packets as well as 35 build ideas!

The instruction booklet starts with the basics, it explains the functions of key pieces, their colour coding and how some pieces can bend and connect together. As the pieces are all colour coded the instruction book doesn’t need to detail each construction step you just have to find the coloured shape and connect it. Towards the end of the booklet where more complex 3D constructions are shown there are extra pictures to enable all aspects of the model to be seen and therefore built.

I hadn’t used K’NEX before and was impressed with the simplicity of the pieces and ease in using the instruction book. My children aged 8 years and 6 years found the pieces very easy to use, they weren’t too small and fiddly and they quickly grasped the colour coding within the instruction book. As it is very easy to connect, disconnect and reconnect pieces it wasn’t long before we were all embarking on our own creations.

The K’NEX 521 provided endless fun, with us all inventing and reinventing ideas as we went.  I would definitely recommend this product and would give it top marks.
