Disney Princesses, Rapunzel Fairy Tail Hair Doll by Mattel Review

Disney and Mattel package their products really well, Disney is a very distinctive brand, bright and appealing. I like the packaging as you can see everything you are getting, no surprise’s or disappointment once opened. My only issue is with all manufactures, not just Disney or Mattel, those little plastic band and clips are impossible some days. Just when you think you have them all you find another, I know they are important, but can manufactures please find an alternative. Moan over.
The Rapunzel doll is lovely, nice character facial features such as the big eyes which make it friendly for children, her body is hard plastic with a soft plastic face. She does have good body movement; she even has pants on! My niece checked. it is apparently very important to a five-year-old. Her purple skirt is removable if so desired.
Rapunzel comes with 15 accessories, 9 coloured hair clips, a frying pan brush, 2 colour changing hair extensions, a sponge, a crown and last but by no means least Pascal. Pascal has been designed to slide onto Rapunzel’s arm just like in the film Tangled, he is really cute, the girls loved him, due to his size he can be easily miss placed. Rapunzel’s hair extensions are heat reactive colour changing, the idea is to use warm water on the sponge and wipe down the extensions and watch them change colour, it also works if you have warm hands. The colour change is really noticeable unlike some dolls we have had. If you just hold the hair in between your fingers, you can create some great patterns without having to use the sponge and warm water, we found this easier and it eliminated the need to go to the sink. In my experience water and children normally means a big wet clean up.
When undoing all of the plastic bands don’t take off the very top band in the hair as the chances of the hair falling out when brushing are quite high. It is easy to remedy by threading it back through and using a small clear hair band. Yes, I took the top band off!! We had great fun changing her hair colour, plaiting her hair, and creating stories. I love toys that spark a child’s imagination. The whole house became a scene form the film tangled, Rapunzel and pascal kept two 5-year-olds happy for hours. They did find the hair clips very small and quite fiddly to clip together, parental help may be needed if smaller children are playing.
She makes a great addition to our princess collection. The set is not recommended for under 3-year-olds due to the risk of choking on small pieces.

The set I received is slightly different to their website as my set had no hair for Pascal, no cup and the brush is different. However, the doll and hair extensions are the same.

Overall, we loved the Disney Rapunzel fairy tale colour changing hair set. We loved playing with her hair and pascal, she stood up to two five-year-olds, the colour change in the hair was great. We Rate it 4 out of 5, just because the clips are a bit fiddley.
