This is a lovely introduction to the world where Lego and the beloved Nintendo characters combine and with a creative brick building experience in the mix!

The Lego Mario Cat Peach Suit Frozen Tower Set (71407) and has a number of features which cannot fail to intrigue brick heads and Mario Bros and Princess Peach fans alike.

The Lego Mario Cat Peach Suit Frozen Tower Set is a cute self build set which has been added to the Super Mario Lego building set series in 2022, bringing the recognisable characters and game features into 3D and interactive play. This set has a total of 494 pieces, in 7 separate packets helping make the build experience a little easier. The set also includes the super cute Cat Peach Suit along with the Cat Mario Power-Up Pack. This is a 3 level set which makes up the Frozen Tower and a number of secret features kids will love to build and find. There’s a fab sliding platform which unfurls to expand the play scene on the bottom level. There’s also moving ice blocks which hide some of the secret features inside. Players can dress the characters they have in the Cat Suit (this figure isn’t included) and then find a way to reach the top of the tower with other characters such as Toad to see along the way. Release the Coin Block from the frozen ice and watch out for any power ups along the way.

It’s useful to know that the instructions for this set are online and there’s no printed information inside. However, it’s easy to find the instructions online and easy to follow. My ten year old was able to follow the images and written descriptions online without any help from me and had the set complete in approximately two hours.
The set has a number of features which extend the play value far beyond the build time and experience. As a set on its own it’s cute and engaging but the extra value is how each set is compatible with a lot of others in the Lego Mario universe. Meaning no end of adventures. And of course Lego’s original format toy – bricks you can use to build whatever you like from the limitless space of your imagination.

By creating other sets or using other bricks anyone could create a real challenge from the Mario characters to adventure through and keep the fun going through more and more customisable experiences.

The site states that “the 71360, 71387 or 71403 Starter Course is required for play” but I have to say my son was happy with the set as it is. He does have the Mario and Luigi electronic figures and sets so he has the option to connect them. Whilst the cat suit is redundant without the play figure the rest of the kit is still worth it and a cool addition to any Lego collection.
