On Saturday 12 September 2015, myself and my dinosaur mad 5 year old son, headed to the Theatre Royal in Glasgow to see Dinosaur Zoo Live.
We arrived and at the door, we purchased a programme which at £3.50 I found to be very reasonably priced! It was bright and inviting to my son! We spent some time sitting together exploring the book prior to the show, which got very excited reading dinosaur facts and doing puzzles (as if he wasn’t already!)
We then purchased a dino grabber toy again priced at £3.50, so I felt we weren’t ripped off!
We then moved from the foyer into the stalls! The very friendly and helpful Theatre Royal staff checked our tickets and directed us to our seats – where we had fabulous seats in Row K! We could see the whole stage and were relatively close to the front!
As we took our seats, we were pleasantly surprised. The scene on the stage was set will with mood lighting and giant trees! We were then introduced to the show and to the cast by Sean the main host!
Australian-based company Erth using extremely life like puppets and amazing sound effects, I had an extremely excited 5 year old who thought he was watching real life dinosaurs. We were first of all introduced to a range of dinosaurs from a baby triceratops and baby T-Rex, a prehistoric dragonfly, to a large herbivore, a couple of love sick dinosaurs and of course the amazing young male Tyrannosaurus Rex which was so cuddly that I had one slightly scared son!
The show was interactive from the get go and all the way through! They invited a range of children and adults up onto the stage to be a part of the show! An amazing experience for those chosen especially the children (most of whom looked amazing as they touched real love dinosaur!)
The cast are extremely talented in the puppetry used and the dinosaur puppets are outstanding and scarily real! The T- Rex was phenomenal – you could have easily been in the prehistoric era!
Sadly not everyone gets a chance to join the cast on stage however they do have a meet and get where you can meet baby dinosaurs or the T-Rex (we didn’t the 5 year old was certain it would eat him!). However, we had a wonderful meet and greet session with the baby T-Rex and the baby Triceratops, which up-close could have passed for the real thing! We have the most amazing photos and memories to treasure forever!
What an experience – we have childhood memories we will never forget and my sons face will never leave me! To close in his words,
Mum, I loved dinosaurs now I love them more! Dinosaur Zoo was the best day of my life!
