I received the “Dear Grandma, from you to me” journal recently to review. It is presented as an A5 hardback book with hand drawn illustrations on the cover, which describe some of the questions posed inside. The tag line of the book is “a journal of a lifetime”. The purpose of the book is to capture the story of a loved grandma to gift back to her grandchild once completed. The blurb on the back of the book says that it is “full of wonderful questions carefully designed to tell her personal story”.
The book is presented very nicely with cute pictures on the cover and helpful bookmark to keep your place. It starts with Dear… Here is my letter to you… The following pages ask one question per page such as “what are your earliest memories?”, “how did you meet my grandfather?” and “if you won the lottery what would you do with the money?” The opposite page to each question has a little illustration in the corner to reflect the question which is a nice touch.
There are around 60 questions to be answered by grandma in this book, meaning she can capture a large amount of her life on one place to gift to her grandchild. It has space for photos or similar as well.
There are a number of other books in the series as well such as dear mum/dad/sister etc., plus You To Me Ltd also publish other books such as home gift journals, Christmas memories and leaving gift journals.
This book is a lovely gift to give a grandparent, perhaps on the birth of a grandchild, which will be an even better gift back in the future and something to treasure.
Sadly the book I received has some marked pages and most pages have creases but I have assumed this is only because it is a review version and not indicative of the copy you would receive brand new.
I would recommend this book to purchase as a gift for any grandma.
