Cut To The Minis Review

Each week I look forward to my Saturday night treat night. I like to indulge by enjoying a chocolate bar and sipping a drink. This is usually a whisky, gin or other spirit with a mixer such as tonic or cola. I like to vary what I drink and love to try out different brands and varieties. For this reason I do prefer buying miniature bottles opposed to larger ones so I get the opportunity to try different drinks.

So I was so happy to receive the Cut To The Minis, a gift set of three miniature bottles of rum from Cut Rum. I decided to keep them for my Saturday night treat this week and enjoyed them with my husband. Cut Rum is a brand I had neither tried nor heard of previously.

The Cut To The Minis gift set arrived packaged in an attractive recyclable cardboard box which has an open front displaying the three mini bottles. The design is smart and modern which I think makes it look lovely for a present. The gift set contains three miniature bottles but in two varieties with two of the bottles being the same. There are two bottles of Cut To The Spice and one bottle of Cut To The Smoke.

I decided to try the Cut To The Spice rum first. It is a 50ml glass bottle and is 37.5% vol. so certainly a strong drink! Fortunately the bottles have screw lids so I can save the remainder of the bottle. My first impression when I opened the bottle is that is has a wonderful scent, a really sweet smell with a hint of spice to it. I first tried the rum neat to get a true taste of the flavour. It is rich with a wonderful spice kick to it. I mixed it with diet cola and it really was a wonderful drink.

I next tried the Cut To The Smoke which also comes in a 50ml bottle but this one is 40% vol. As soon as I opened the bottle I could smell the smoky aroma. Then when I had a sip I could taste it too. The taste reminded me of having a BBQ, the smokiness really does come through. Again I mixed it with diet cola as it’s a strong rum and it made me think of wonderful Summer evenings, barbecuing in the garden.

With how delicious these little minis are and how nicely presented they are, the Cut To The Minis gift set would make for a lovely present for any occasion allowing the recipient a sample size try of Cut Rum. Plus retailing at only £12.00 it’s certainly not a budget breaking gift and I think it’s very reasonable for how excellent the quality is of this premium rum.
