My 8 year old twin sons absolutely love construction toys and particularly those where balls do various things.  I therefore had a feeling that the Clementoni/Science Museum Action & Reaction Chaos Effect toy would be perfect for them.  I wasn’t wrong.

The product arrived quickly in perfect condition and not excessively packaged.  One of my twins had been excitedly asking when it would arrive since it was coming and he tried it out soon after it’s arrival.  The product itself has more than 120 modular components.  I think that having too few components can really decrease engagement and so this was perfect.  We unpackaged the components and sorted them into piles of the same component.  I am a huge fan of STEM products (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) because they can really help children learn new skills and use their imagination.  I think that STEM products can also really help children with problem solving which is so important for them in their life.  One of my twins was soon following the enclosed instructions and interlocking the various components.  He found this easy to do. I think that this would also be great for developing a child’s motor skills.  My little T likes building his own circuits, but I was delighted to see that an online manual can be downloaded from www.manuals.clementoni.com.  There are also videos which can be watched on www.clementoni.com/actionandreaction if you visit that link and click watch the videos.

This toy keeps my T engaged for hours.  It’s wonderful because he can play with it independently or enjoy team play with other family members.  I liked the fact that more than one ball was included and they were a vibrant colour.  The box says that this toy is suitable for age 8-99 and I would agree.  I think that generations of a family would love playing with this together.  You can even use household items such as books to make the circuits more interesting.  One other thing which helps longevity wise is that additional components are available to extend any circuits built.    I love anything that encourages children to experiment and this toy seems perfect with that regard.   Another plus for myself is that it is quick and easy to take apart too after a fun day of play.

This toy is fantastic and I would recommend it to others. One of the best things about it is that so much fun is had while learning.  I think that it would make a great and affordable gift for a child.  What am I saying?  I would love this as a gift myself!

I had a look at the Clementoni website and there are some other fantastic looking products available.  Why not have a look at the reviews on our website here
