Celebrate the seasonality of SPAM® Brand and Keep It Real this Appreciation Week (2-8 March 2026)

The UK’s official SPAM® Appreciation Week will celebrate the true seasonal versatility of SPAM® Chopped Pork and Ham this year. Bringing together fans old and new from all over the UK, it’s a special week to focus on this unique blend of shoulder pork and leg ham, which has been feeding the nation for decades and keeping it real both indoors and outdoors.
During week commencing 2 March, the unique taste and seasonality of SPAM® Brand is to be celebrated! From kebabs on the BBQ in summer to a hearty breakfast fry up on a cold winter morning, SPAM® Chopped Pork and Ham can be diced and sliced, then grilled or fried, to make many tasty meals and snacks at any time of day, all year round.
Here’s some recipe ideas that Keep It Real, to be enjoyed during this special week or at any time of year:
SPRING:
Put a spring in your step with these delicious sushi rolls – a popular choice in Hawaii where the famous annual SPAM JAM™ festival is held every April.
SPAM® Musubi Crunchy Roll (4 servings)
Ingredients
- 1 x 340g can of SPAM® Chopped Pork and Ham, cut into 8 slices
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 500g cooked white sushi rice
- 4 sheets nori, cut in half
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 500g panko breadcrumbs
- Vegetable oil
- 75ml mayonnaise
- 2 teaspoons sesame seed
- ¼ chopped onion
Method
- In small bowl, combine soy sauce and sugar
- In large frying pan over medium-high heat, cook SPAM® slices for 3 to 5 minutes or until browned. Add soy sauce sugar mixture, cook for 1 to 2 minutes or until slices are glazed. Remove from pan
- Place 150g rice into musubi press, or plastic wrap lined SPAM® can and press down. Remove from press on top of a halved nori sheet. Wrap nori around musubi, moistening edge of nori to adhere together. Repeat to make 8 rolls
- Place eggs and breadcrumbs in separate shallow dishes. Dip and roll each musubi in egg, then panko breadcrumbs
- In large frying pan over medium-high heat, heat 1-inch vegetable oil. Fry musubi in oil, turning to fry each side, 3 to 5 minutes or until golden brown
- Slice each musubi into 4 slices. Line up 8 slices on 4 serving plates. Drizzle each with soy sauce, mayonnaise, sesame seeds and onion
SUMMER
It’s time to get outdoors, open a can of SPAM® Chopped Pork and mix with peppers, mushrooms and onion on a skewer. Give friends and family something uniquely tasty and different this summer.
SPAM® BBQ Kebabs (serves 4)
Ingredients
- 1 x 340g can of SPAM® Chopped Pork and Ham cubed
- 1 x Red Pepper – cut into cubes
- 1 x Yellow Pepper – cut into cubes
- Large Red Onion – cut into quarters
- 8 x Chestnut mushrooms
- Vegetable oil for brushing
- 1 x small jar Mango chutney (optional)
- Kebab sticks – which have previously been soaked in water
Method
- Thread cubes of SPAM® Chopped Pork and Ham on to soaked kebab sticks alternating with the vegetables to give a colourful portion.
- Brush the kebabs with oil and a little Mango chutney if using and place on the hot BBQ, turning them over until all the SPAM® Chopped Pork and Ham and vegetables are nicely browned all over and cooked.
AUTUMN:
The start of the chilly season calls for a quick and easy post-work tea to enjoy with friends and family. One 340g can of SPAM® Chopped Pork and Ham makes yummy fajitas for up to six people, so excellent value for money too!
SPAM® Fajitas (serves 4-6 people)
Ingredients
- 1 x 340g can SPAM® Chopped Pork and Ham – cut into long strips
packs of tortillas - 1 x red peppers cut into long strips
- 1 x green pepper cut into long strips
- Red onion – cut into quarters and thinly sliced
- Baby gem lettuce leaves
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- Serving suggestions: Sour cream, guacamole, salsa, nachos and grated cheese
Method
- Add the oil into a large frying pan, when warmed through stir in the SPAM® Chopped Pork and Ham strips and fry on each side until golden brown. Allow to cool
- Lay each tortilla flat on a chopping board and spread a little of the sour cream on top then top with lettuce leaves, a mixture of the peppers, the cooked SPAM® Chopped Pork and Ham strips and the red onion slices
- Roll each Fajita up and place on a serving plate
WINTER:
No bacon, no problem. A can of SPAM® Chopped Pork and Ham fries up a treat to make a tasty warming breakfast with the usual favourites such as egg and mushrooms.
SPAM® Breakfast Fry Up (Serves 4)
Ingredients:
- 1 x 340g can or tub of SPAM® Chopped Pork and Ham – cut into slices
- 4 x large eggs
- 2 x large tomatoes – cut in half
- Mushrooms
- 2 slices of bread
- 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
Method:
- Heat the oil on a medium high heat in a large frying pan and fry the sliced SPAM® Chopped Pork and Ham. Alternatively, you can grill the sliced SPAM® Chopped Pork and Ham. Flip regularly to ensure it is cooked through on both sides
- Add the tomato to the pan and fry. Then add the mushrooms, bread and eggs and fry on a medium heat
- Plate up and enjoy!
