Pebble Gear Kids Disney Tablet Review

This is a 7” tablet especially designed for children that comes in a number of Disney designs and can be widely purchased for £99.99. The one I received was the Mickey and Friends design which is super cute. The tablet itself is actually standard black it’s the accessories that comes with the tablet that are the different designs. So included is a fantastic rubber bumper case in your chosen design which is perfect to protect the tablet from those inevitable bumps caused by children, a standard USB cable and a European and British wall plug adaptor.

I also received the adorable little lightweight carry case with a handle and pictures of Mickey and all his friends in lovely vibrant colours (£19.99). As well as the screen protector – screen buddy, which has a little trim to match your chosen design. It was very simple to apply and comes with an adorable Disney cleaning cloth (£14.99).

The tablet seems fairly robust, it was quick and easy to set up and is simple to use and navigate. There appears to be a variety of free apps, e-books and games available to download from GameStore Junior. However unlike a kindle or iPad this tablet doesn’t appear to have access to internet or apps such as Netflix and YouTube Kids etc.

The apps are split into Play, Learn, Books and media. And in store is also split into top lists for the categories, newest, editors choice, best rated and ages 0-3, 4-7 and 8+, so there is something for everyone and it’s easy to find apps that are appropriate for your child.

Some apps are easier to understand than others but there is plenty of choice whether your child wants to have just have fun playing games or whether they want to learn or improve their writing and numbers etc with lots of educational apps. There are also e-books that read aloud stories while highlighting the words which is great. My daughter loves books and so when I don’t have much time to sit down and read to her this will be an excellent alternative.

The battery like most tablets these days drains fairly quickly but it only takes a couple of hours to fully charge.

The tablet looks and feels great, it’s simple to use and with only a small number of on screen buttons its ideal for children learning how to use a tablet. It also has some excellent features like setting screen time limits. And a camera to allow your child to start taking their own pictures.

Overall I think this is a great little tablet for children. You have no worries what they are playing or watching on it and it has lots of educational and fun apps available. However I suspect the absence of the wider choice in apps and internet will result in this being an “as well as” rather than an “instead of” tablet, so could possibly make it a little over priced compared to its competitors. I would therefore give it 3 out of 5 stars.
