Canal Toys Style 4 Ever Fashion Design Studio Review

My daughter and I were both really excited for this review to arrive.  Both of us really enjoy arts and crafts and it’s such a fun thing to do together.

The parcel arrived swiftly and was well packaged and labelled. The box of the product is bright and eye catching and looks really inviting for children it would make a perfect Gift, in fact I have already passed on the details to several of my friends who have children’s birthdays coming up. My daughters eyes lit up when I opened it and she couldn’t wait to get it all out and start playing fashion designer. I also think this product is suitable for a wide age range of children.  My daughter is five but I also think this will appeal all the way up to teenagers.

On opening the Style 4 ever Fashion designer studio it included the following :
* 1 Fashion Designer Studio set up.
* 6 coloured Pencil.
* 20 Model sheets, some in colour and some blacks and white.
* 6 Printed rolls of fashion paper each with a different design.
* 1 Double tip marker (one thin end, one big end)
* 3 fashion stencils with a range of clothing designs.
* 5 Self-adhesive fabric sheets.
* 10 Printed sheets of fashion paper.
* 50 Gems in silver and black.
* A Glue stick.
* 2 Sticker sheets of accessories.
* A guide book.

The fashion design studio was easy and quick to assemble it just clicks in place. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. The pieces are made of bright coloured plastic and make up a fashion work station that keeps everything neatly in one place. I liked how the drawing part removed from the base so it was easy to look through the papers underneath and see which design etc we wanted to you. I also liked how it has straps to keep the paper held in place whilst you were designing.

The aim of the Style 4 ever fashion design studio is for you to become your own designer. Each design made from scratch by you from as many different components as you like. The model pages have a section on to think about design choices, patterns, styles and colours before using the different printed fashion papers to bring your design to life. There is so many different options when picking a design you could free hand draw your design, or if your skill level is not as good yet like my five year olds you can use one of the 3 stencils designs to create the clothing. My only advice on this is make sure the stencils are the right way up when drawing or the items don’t fit the models body as well. Once you’ve design the style of your outfit next you look through the fashion pages or fabrics and choose what you would like to make them out of. The only thing you need that’s not provided in the kit is a pair of scissors to cut out the designs. Once designed, cut and stuck on the model you then have the accessory sticker sheets to help add extra pizazz to the outfits. I really liked how the stickers are sheer meaning when you put the sunglasses on you could still see the models eyes. I thought this was a really nice touch and made it feel more grown up than the standard sticker sheets you get for children. You could also embellish your design using the gel stones. My daughter used some to make a fancy belt on one of her designs.

I really rate this gift not only has my daughter really enjoyed it and has kept going back to it but it has also really got her thinking and using her imagination and sparking creativity. It has been a really fun engaging activity for us to sit and do together, I have really enjoyed hearing how it’s inspired her choices and design ideas. She has come up with all sorts of creations and has started making little characters for the models and designing their clothes based on what she thinks they do. The items are good quality for example when my daughter has made a mistake she’s managed to peel the paper off and re stick and it hasn’t ripped. I would love to be able to buy a refill pack for this product when she’s gone through all the supplies.

We would rate this product 5 out of 5 and will absolutely be recommending it to friends and families children across the different age ranges. With a recommended retail price of £21.99 I think it’s great value when looking at similar products on the market today.
