What is a caketail? Michelle from MiChell Cupcakes takes you through a demonstration of how to make the perfect cupcake, and, well, how to bake anything really.
The event is perfect for Hen Nights or even corporate team building (it’s not just for the girls) but you’ll probably draw the line there as it involves quite a bit of alcohol!
On arriving, the plush seating of the function room at Fulham’s Hollywood Arms is set out with a cup cake, recipe card and goodie bag. The reason for the goodie bag becomes apparent later! The head bar tender, Joseph, explains how to make the first cocktail of the evening; a strawberry daiquiri. Michelle then talked us through baking and icing cupcakes, including a coconut and pineapple concoction, inspired by a piña colada made by Joseph (we got to taste all the cocktails too!) and another sample of raspberry sponge cake followed.
The evening continued with cocktails and then followed even more sweet cakes, all made by Michelle and her team at their Battersea kitchen, including chocolate and honey whirls, carrot cake and my favourite; red velvet cupcakes with raspberry filling!
So what is a caketail? It’s a cake inspired by a cocktail and in most cases, includes the same ingredients – even the alcohol! The piña colada cupcake we made comprised of a pineapple buttercream topping, rolled in dedicated coconut and topped with a cherry and pineapple piece.
A nice evening to spend with friends and if you don’t mind the overload of sugar and alcohol at the same time!
The next Caketails class is 29 September 2015. Tickets are £20 and available at firstname.lastname@example.org
