I was excited to be offered the opportunity to test the Burleigh’s Signature London Dry Gin. It was certainly a treat. This is definitely my kind of gin and one I would be more that happy to buy either for myself or as a gift.  Over the past few years gin has become a much more popular drink and there are so many brands and styles available that the market can seem flooded with choice.

As a long time gin lover, I feel that my many years of tasting experience have made me somewhat of a connoisseur. I particularly enjoy the more traditional gins with a high botanical content rather than the ubiquitous flavoured varieties.
The Burleigh’s Signature London Dry Gin is definitely the type of gin I would be drawn to. It comes in a very sexy black bottle which make it stand out from the crowded shelves.

The bottle is just the beginning of the experience. According to Burleigh’s It contains gin distilled with 11 botanicals including silver birch, dandelion, burdock and elderberries. The nose is crisp, fresh, vibrant and piney eucalyptus and bright citrus top notes. On the palate there is a dry juniper freshness followed by pine, citrus zest and eucalyptus. Earthy spicy and floral note in the background. The finish is long and warming with parma violet, pine and dry juniper.
I served it over ice with Fever Tree premium Indian tonic and garnished with a slice of lemon for a perfect G&T. In my opinion this is a very refreshing deeply flavoured gin, with a real juniper punch. This is my kind of gin and one to savour. Definitely morish!

I did not try it but I am sure that Burleigh’s Signature London Dry Gin would be a fantastic cocktail ingredient and mix well with other flavours to produce a very special drink for any occasion.  Burleigh’s was established in 2014 and distils gins in Loughborough Leicester using unique botanicals originally found in the ancient Burleigh’s woodlands. Burleigh’s is the official gin partner of Leicester City Foodball Club, Leicester Tigers RFC and the King Richard III Foundation.

The Burleigh’s website not only showcases their full range of gins, but also has some interesting gift ideas from candles to chocolates and bar kits. It’s definitely worth a look if you are seeking something a bit different. For a really special treat, you can book a visit to the Burleigh’s Gin academy to distil your own special brew.
Burleigh’s Signature London Dry Gin would make a great fathers day gift.
