The Brooklyn Bowl is a bowling alley/ bar/ restaurant/ live music venue. It is situated within the O2 complex in London’s docklands.

We travelled by tube, an easy ride (approx. 14 minutes) from London Waterloo on the Jubilee Line to North Greenwich station. It can also be reached by river, bus, or by car. Once we left the station, it was a short covered walk to get to the O2 (which was a relief, as the weather was so bad!). There was a map showing the layout of the O2 complex, and the location of all the establishments within it, and once inside there were signposts showing where we needed to go, so it was very easy to find.

Once inside the Brooklyn Bowl, we were shown to a table, and given food and drink menus, which both had a good range to choose from, and was very reasonably priced. It was fairly busy but had a really nice atmosphere, with music playing at a volume which was loud enough that you didn’t feel you had to whisper so others weren’t hearing your conversation, but not so loud that you had to shout at your companion.

BB1We were there to try the cocktails, so between us, over the course of the evening, we tried the 5 varieties on offer that are served by the glass (although we didn’t try the Margaritas which you could get as a pitcher, or individually). Each time we ordered, we were served quickly and the staff behind the bar were very knowledgeable and were able to make the cocktails without having to refer to any recipe or notes. The cocktails themselves were delicious, they all used fresh fruit and/or herbs, and were presented beautifully. Our favourite over all was the Basilico, which was really refreshing.  It is a tough choice, as they were all really lovely.

The facilities were extremely clean and tidy, there were plenty of toilets which were upstairs, the ladies even had a small separate area with a viewing window so you could watch the bowling or the band, if you have one of those friends whose visits to the bathroom take forever!

I would definitely recommend to anyone to visit this venue, whether they were going to the O2 for a concert and want some food or a couple of drinks beforehand, or it is worth the short journey out of town for a great night out. It is certainly not just a bowling alley! I would recommend that you check out the venues website to see which artists are going to be playing, as it looks like they put on a good range of acts, and it would be a great place to see a live band.

I would rate this 5/5 as both a venue, and for the cocktails.
