Brewers Fayre Clarence Pier Review

Reviewed by Stephanie Moore

Myself and my family went along to the Brewers Fayre Clarence Pier in Southsea on Sunday, it is situated directly on the seafront, close to all the fair and fun! Although once you’re in there you cannot hear so it doesn’t disturb.  There is a Premier Inn next door so the location is great if you are visiting for a day out or staying nearby.

There is a car park along side, it is set on the seafront but it is pay and display.

Upon entering we were greeted quickly (within a couple of minutes) and taken to our seat which was in a great location right at the front of the building on a large table looking directly out over the sea. As we visited on a sunny Sunday afternoon it was a lovely seat (would suggest booking a table if you want it). My children loved watching the speed boats and car ferry going past out of the large windows! We were explained how the menu worked, what the soup of the day was and where we can place our order and pay and soon after that my three children were given colouring pencils and kids activity books to help keep them amused.

The menu had a good selection of food, I must admit that I struggled to choose what I wanted as there was quite a few things I wanted! I went for the Slow Cooked Lamb which was very tasty, the mash potato wasn’t lumpy and the gravy had a lovely taste to it. My husband’s choice was the big Mixed Grill (typical man!) which he also really enjoyed. We also decided to pay a little extra to get unlimited refills with our Pepsi drinks which proved a wise decision on such a warm afternoon.

The children’s menu had a great selection of things and was really well priced, two of my children choose the beefburger in a bun which came with a selection of mash or chips and choice of vegetables and my other child’s choice was spaghetti bolognaise with garlic bread. The meals were a great size, although maybe a little too large but better to have too much on your plate than to little! Put it this way they ate really well! You could also pay a little more and get pudding included as well which was really good value. The children’s ice cream sundaes came in little sundae glasses (plastic) and they loved them! Their eyes lit up when they came out!

We choose the ultimate indulgence sundae to share….. wow, they don’t call it ‘Ultimate’ for nothing, it was huge!! A sundae glass that was as big as my head and full up with very yummy things, it even beat my husband which is unheard of!

Our food was delivered to our table very quickly, within 10 minutes of ordering. The staff were friendly and very helpful and plates were cleaned away quickly and efficiently. The venue was clean and tidy but the the only thing I would say is that the toilets were a bit on the small side considering the size of the place.

This is a great family friendly restaurant as it has a play area inside, it is only for the younger aged children but my three year old twins enjoyed it. They have tables near this area too so you could sit down whilst the children are playing and keep an eye on them. You don’t often find places like this these days.

This is a great place to go for a meal and I would rate it 5 out of 5 and highly recommend it if you are looking for somewhere to eat in the Southsea area. The food and service were excellent and is good value for money.

Rating: 5/5
