The venue is conveniently situated just off the M1, Junction 9, making it easily accessible by car from major towns and cities such as St Albans, Watford, Luton, and Hemel Hempstead. There is lots of onsite parking.

While there isn’t a direct train station in Redbourn, the nearest National Rail stations are Harpenden and St Albans City. Harpenden Station is approximately 35 minutes from London King’s Cross Station, making it a convenient option for visitors travelling from the city. From either station, you can take a local bus or taxi to reach the Showground. Bus routes 34 and 46 have stops near the Showground, with the Redding Lane stop just a 5-minute walk away. These buses however may not run regularly in the evening.

On arrival – If you like horror you will love this, I spent the whole evening screaming but I am the biggest scaredy cat. The event creators had gone all out to ensure your experience started from the moment you came through the gates. Within the first few minutes of entering we were chased by a mad man with a chainsaw along with over fifty different actors from witches to witch hunters, zombies and numerous eerie individuals who did a fantastic job of interacting with the visitors. Whatever your tastes you will find food and drink to accommodate with over twenty eateries and bars. There are also a number of fairground rides for additional entertainment.

We made our way to the bar area which also had a stage with DJ and some acts including my favourite, the fire eating woman who defied all odds in not catching her hair on fire. For at least fifteen minutes she danced with flames, ate flames, threw and spun flames it was incredible to watch, and I would go again to watch her,

We then went on to visit the four mazes which were within individual massive tents.
The first was The Texas Chainsaw Massacre which was every bit as terrifying as I remember from the film but more so as you felt that you were within the set. I ran rather than walked through this!

On then to the Hertfordshire Witch which was apparently based on a true story walking through the cobbled streets of Wakern in the year of 1712. Witches were rife, witch hunters and pious groups were on a mission to eradicate them. There were so many twists and turns within the maze that it was often impossible to know where to go next, an intentional spanner in the works to scare you further.

E.D.E.N was our next maze – not as scary in my opinion but randomly thought-provoking visit for a journey from the chaos of the past to a selected few to build a better world.

Winnie the Pooh – we actually met the director of the film whilst queuing to get in here. The cuddly and safe characters I remember as a child were blown out of my safe haven as we entered the maze – to say I tried to hide behind the person in front of me whilst Pooh and his pals consistently jumped out at me was an understatement. I was petrified throughout the whole journey of this with Pooh coming nose to nose to me at one point! Definitely the scariest of all for me.

We had a fabulous evening and despite the horrendous queueing you were kept entertained throughout and every one of the people there was by far the friendliest I have come across. I would not want to go again as I’d be equally as terror stricken the second time around however if you are a horror fan you’d want to go every night.
