London Gin and Haymans Sloe Gin Review

London Gin &
Hayman’s Sloe GIn Review

Reviewed by Angela Davis

As soon as I opened the bottle and took in the first aroma of the London Gin I knew it was going to be a taste that would be something to relish and I was not disappointed when I had my first sip. I tried it first just with a little ice to try to get the full flavour of the gin and it was as delightful as I thought it would be. The hint of citrus and liquorice were not at all overpowering but added to the blend of flavours. I then added tonic to the glass and it enhanced the flavour even more. Unfortunately I didn’t have any lime, but truthfully I felt that the citrus in the gin itself was sufficient and any more may have overpowered the taste slightly. Perhaps next time I will try it with lime and make another comparison.

The sloe gin was also a joy to drink. Unlike some sloe gins it wasn’t thick & syrupy but smooth light and if anything it brought out even more the background flavours, with the bitterness of the sloes giving an almost almond backnote and aftertaste.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend either of these gins and would certainly be more than happy to serve both of them to friends, who I know would enjoy these sophisticated and pleasurable drinks.
