Are you feeling … Blue? It’s the end of the month and what a great way to see out February!
Playing to a sell out crowd in the Concert Hall, the atmosphere was electric! Everyone was eagerly anticipating the arrival of the guys, Antony Costa, Duncan James, Lee Ryan and Simon Webbe or as we all know them as … Blue.
Blue we’re supported by Eloise Viola who is a London based singer songwriter her songs are written from a bit of a girl power point of view and about how the media makes us feel we need to act and dress etc. I thought she was great, but she just didn’t seem comfortable in what she was wearing so it just looked like she couldn’t relax into it.

After a short interval, the background music lowered and the sell out crowd was just getting impatient (in a good way of course!) Blue have been going for nearly 25 years, which made a few of us in the audience feel old. They have sold 15 million records worldwide, with three Number 1 albums and ten top 10 singles (including three number 1’s). Amongst their other achievements they have Brit and MTV Asia Awards under their belts. What a lot of achievements. Some of the stories that they were sharing were really interesting and with 25 years of writing, singing and touring history behind them we were so engaged. Hearing about their experiences whilst singing with the likes of Elton John and Stevie Wonder!

Their chemistry on stage was evident with mischievousness and stage presence. There was lots of banter on stage but their voices…. Epic! Such soulful singers with amazing harmonies. I thought Lee Ryan’s range was just amazing and it was great to hear that they were back in the studio and working on new music. But tonight we were up and dancing to the likes of ‘All Rise,’ ‘Too Close,’ ‘If you come back,’ and ‘Flyby.’ It was such a good evening. Thank you Lighthouse for entertaining us with a fab line up!

Although due to a change in my own music tastes, when they originally released their music, I was into different genres, but I knew of their big hits and really enjoyed the ones that I didn’t know. Their songs are catchy, and with smooth vocals and they sounded just like their recordings. They harmonised so well together and had the sort of connection you would expect from a group of friends that had been together for a long time. This tour was a theatre tour, so smaller venues, more intimate and a great opportunity to get up close. The concert hall is a really manageable size so a great view from all angles. We were in seats Q26 & Q27 so almost dead centre so our view was perfect. I would have given the night a 5/5 but I really wanted more and was expecting an encore but was disappointed when everyone left.

Rating: 4.5/5
This was a one night only event and tickets start from £33
