Big Girls Don’t Cry the sensational tribute to Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons arrived at the Grove Theatre Dunstable tonight. You may make the mistake in thinking local theatres in small towns don’t host big groups who entertain you from the moment they step onto the stage. Those of us who attended the Grove Theatre tonight witnessed the best of the best.
The Grove Theatre is in the centre of Dunstable with good parking and local facilities, if you arrive in good time you can grab a drink before you take your seat. This was a show I have seen before, and boy I was not disappointed. The group celebrate not just the hits of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, but Frankie himself and other groups of their time.
I love a group that turns up suited and booted, these guys look hot to trot in their suits. Big Girls don’t Cry featuring the East Coast Boys are a very talented group of guys well supported by some great musicians. From the opening number they had the audience eating out of the palm of their hands. I adore Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, but to be honest I don’t think you would have to be a fan to appreciate a good night out, fantastic vocals, wonderful music, all round great entertainment.
I couldn’t begin to name the hits, as they were all in the show, everyone’s favourites covered. I think there were too many for me to even say what stood out the most. Frankie himself had an outstanding voice, although they were all great. They interacted with the audience in a great way, and kept up the accents throughout the show. The charisma of them all on stage was fab, and I couldn’t take my eyes of any of them! If this was the music of your generation, I am soo jealous, I can but imagine what it would have been like to see the guys back in the day. This band feels so much more than a tribute band, they are very much the real deal.
They most certainly give one hundred and ten percent for the whole show, and pack in the hits, one after another. I don’t know their backgrounds, but surely they have at one time or another been on the west end stage, such is the quality of their voices. They obviously put a lot of effort and time onto their stage show, the cheesy dances they have off to a tee, which all adds to the ambience of the show and the feel for the era. I couldn’t fault any part of tonight and for me it ended way too quickly, even though they had been on stage probably two hours.
They are without doubt the best tribute band I have seen for quite sometime and won’t disappoint anyone who goes to see them. I was left begging for more, so until next time East Coast Boys, thank you for a fantastic night.
