The Belledorm Heat Holders Duvet Cover Set arrived within 4 days of the item being allocated to me for review.

The set, which consisted of a king size duvet cover and two pillow cases, was double wrapped in sturdy plastic bags, which was about right for the product and ensured it arrived in good condition.

When I opened the bag, the duvet set was wrapped nicely with a ribbon around the set, giving it a nice luxurious look.

I had not heard of Belledorm before, so I looked on their website to find a little more about them (link below). I discovered that Belledorm is a family business, established for over 48 years,

They are based in Manchester with in-house machinists, quality control and design team. They offer a 7-year guarantee on most of their ranges, which include all things bedding, such as duvets, sheets, pillow cases, duvet sets for all seasons in a vast range of colours and sizes, protectors and toppers. They also have a range of accessories, such as bathrobes, socks, bed throws and valances – everything you would need for your bed!

The Belledorm Heat Holders Duvet Cover Set has four size options available from single to super king size and four different colours, (Snowfall, Moon Rock, Navy and Antique Silver). I chose the Moon Rock colour, which is a dark brown shade.

The duvet cover features two “hand-holes” in the top corner of the cover, to make it easier to pull the duvet into the corners when. Initially, I thought this was a great idea, however, in practice, for me, the hand-holes didn’t really provide a massive benefit, but that’s based on the way I put my duvet covers on – other people may find them useful if you usually have a battle with the duvet and cover and end up wrapped up in it yourself!

The duvet cover and pillow cases are made from 100% Polyester HEATWEAVER® fleece and they have a tog rating of 1.7. The product information says that it is made from an advanced Japanese designed thermal yarn which provides performance insulation with superior moisture breathing abilities and softness.

And it definitely keeps you warm! In winter, I usually place a throw over the top of my 4-tog duvet. With this Belledorm set, I did not have to use the throw as the duvet cover effectively replaced that and the warmth it brings.

Whilst I know that everyone has different tolerances for temperatures when in bed, this definitely worked for me and kept me nice and warm all night, I felt the benefit from the insulation from the minute I got into bed.

The downside of having using this duvet cover, is that, during those times when you do get a little too warm in bed, you cannot just “kick” it off, as you can with a separate throw on top, and this was something that my partner didn’t like about having this duvet cover on as he did get too warm during the night.

The feel of the duvet is really lovely, considering it is designed for holding heat in, it is actually really lightweight, and the fleece feels really soft and tactile, giving a rather luxurious feeling – quite different to the usual material that duvet sets are made from. It is machine washable and can be tumble dried.

This would be a lovely gift or purchase for anyone who does feel the cold or wants to be warmer in bed.

I would say, at its full RRP, it is rather expensive, however, the price it was on offer for (see below) represents reasonably good value if you like to be consistently warm and covered in lovely soft material at night.

Personally though, when I consider using this duvet cover on my duvet vs using a throw on top of the duvet that you can discard in the night if needed, I would prefer to continue using a throw – but that’s just me!

It is good to see that Belledorm are passionate about the ethical sourcing of all their products.
