Having never eaten at a Beefeater before I was excited to review it, we picked a Thursday night to do our review deciding to stay the night at the nearby Premier Inn. It was easily accessible by bus, which we chose to use to get there, and by car. The Acorn looked newly built with a nice outside space, attached to the Premier Inn which was ideal for us. It has a big spacious car park if coming by car.
Upton entering The Acorn we noted it was very clean and again spacious. We only had to wait a few moments before a member of staff was with us and lead us to our table. When we sat down we were told our host Rob would be with us shortly and the waitress told our drinks order. Whilst we waited for Rob and our drinks order I noted to my husband that the lighting was nice, I sometimes have issues with lighting giving me a headache.
The views from outside were not very accessible from where we were sitting but The Acorn sits in the middle of a business park, with a Tesco superstore nearby. Whilst walking to the restaurant we noted some pubic footpaths leading into some woods which looked like it would be a beautiful walk in the summer.
Rob came to greet us, bringing our drinks order. I had asked the waitress for lemonade with no ice but was presented with ice. Rob apologized and went to fix my drink; upon returning he told us the soup of the day which was Smoked Tomato soup.
We chose the Beefeater Grill Combo which came with chicken and chorizo skewers, garlic and herb breaded mushrooms, spicy buffalo chicken wings, tempura prawns, onion rings, Beefeater Grill Signature cheese topped bread and celery sticks. Served with three tasty dips £9.99 to share. I chose to have Smoked Paprika Chicken with spicy bottomless chips £8.99 and my husband decided to have 10oz Rump steak with plain bottomless chips. Rob asked if we would like some onion rings whilst we waited but we declined.
As we waited my husband noticed some unusual art work on the walls and again how clean and tidy everything looked.
Our starter was with us within 10 minutes, Rob asked if we would like another drink and went to refill them for us. The starter was deliciously, food very well and hot. I especially liked the spicy buffalo chicken wings; my husband noted they were not too hot as he dislikes spicy food and the chicken and chorizo skewers.
Rob was ready as soon as we had finished our starter to take our plates and told us our meals would be with us shortly, as he laid the table with new cutlery. When our mains came, my husband noted that his steak was very well cooked and was the best he had eaten; normally he found that they cooked them too raw for his taste in other places.
My paprika chicken was delicious and I really liked the spicy chips, I hadn’t seen them on a menu before. Rob appeared to ask us if we would like any more chips but we declined wanting to leave room for a dessert!
Whilst my husband finished his meal I went to use the restroom, I noted how clean and tidy it was, well stocked and easy to access with signs to where it was. On my way back I noted the fire door was open and a member of staff was quick to close it.
Rob joked as I returned that he had come to collect our plates but as my husband was unsure if I had finished it was best to leave it to be on the safe side, my husband found this amusing!
He asked if we would like the dessert menu, which we did and he took our plates returning moments later with the menu. The was such a varied of desserts to choose from it took a while to decide, I chose to have warm chocolate fudge brownie £4.99 and Rob was happy to change the ice cream for pouring cream and my husband decided to have Belgian waffle £4.79.
Our desserts were with us within 15 minutes, even though we had noted the restaurant had become busy. My chocolate brownie was very yummy and gooey and my husband thoroughly enjoyed his waffles.
Rob returned to take out plates and asked if we would like tea or coffees but we were full so asked for the bill, when he returned with the bill he told us about the Beefeater membership card that meant each time you ate or drank at the restaurant you got 5 points for a £1 and when you activate the card you got 300 points, also getting a free meal on your birthday and a bottle of wine for joining. I was very impressed he had told us and pleased as I had seen the leaflet but not paid it much notice and I could have missed out!
We found the restaurant very pleasant and had a friendly atmosphere, the staff eager to please and very helpful and there was a varied menu.
It was our first visit to the Beefeater but we are already planning to return for our anniversary in May to use our free bottle of wine, it is very helpfully located next to the Primer Inn so was easy to walk back to our room and the car park was right outside.
