ASK Italian Whetstone Review

Reviewed by Delphi Ellis

We arrived at the Ask Italian restaurant in Whetstone (apparently a popular dining venue for the likes of Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger who lives just down the road) to be greeted warmly and shown our seats.

The Restaurant is located at a busy crossroads although free parking (for up to 1.5 hours) is available just a few minutes walk in the local Waitrose car park.  Despite the busy world outside, the restaurant itself is a haven of calm with plenty of subtle lighting to set the mood for an enjoyable dining experience. The airy and spacious restaurant includes a conservatory and garden area, with glass ceiling see-through during the day and mirrored at night.

We chose from the varied menu which includes plenty of vegetarian options.

As we chose our meals we were served Rosemary and sea salt warm bread complete with extra Virgin olive oil and made our drinks choice from a selection of cold beverages served in chilled glasses.

Insalata Caprese £ 5.45
Light and tasty fiery rocket, tomato and buffalo mozzarella salad starter that won’t ruin your main – nice with a touch of balsamic vinegar

Butterfly King Prawns £6.95
Melt in your mouth succulent prawns served with altamura bread in garlic butter – a very popular dish! You can even have this as a double portion for a main if you prefer.

Main
Agnello Brasato £14.95
Tender braised lamb in rich tomato, white wine, sage and rosemary sauce served with creamy risotto

Linguini alla Genovese £8.65 (available also with chicken for an additional small fee)
Green pesto and green beans in a creamy linguini served with Charlotte potatoes

Dessert
Our Chocolate nemesis £5.40
Light and fluffy chocolate sponge pudding with warm chocolate sauce centre and vanilla ice cream

Apple Rustica £5.15
Sweet apple served with a delicate crumble topping served with ice cream

Selection of hot drinks available including latte and hot chocolate to finish.

A highly recommended and very friendly taste adventure.
