I was very lucky to be able to see Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway on Tour on Friday night. I was a little apprehensive on how they would pull off the BAFTA wining ITV hit show to such a huge live audience. However, it was absolutely fantastic.
The crowd went wild as Ant and Dec entered from the back of the arena singing along to ‘The Boys Are Back in Town’. They came in with a bang literally. They each had a side of the arena screaming on their behalf.
The show was jam packed with amazing entertainment and excellent surprises. With guest announcer Paddy McGuiness in tow we knew we would be in for a laugh and boy did we laugh? I was in hysterics most of the night.
The show kicked off with a karaoke challenge with blue, the contestants singing was a little hard on the eardrums but it’s just a bit of fun. One of the contestants was completely over the top (and possibly slightly drunk). Luckily she didn’t win and another lady who seemed very nervous had the audience backing to become karaoke champion.
I was a little bit star struck when Riverdance came to the stage. I was a huge Riverdance fanatic as a child, so this was a lifelong dream come true. I was completely engrossed in watching them just before the interval, that I ended up getting stuck in a huge queue for the toilet by the time I had chance to leave the arena. However, it was worth it.
After the break, the duo competed in Ant vs Dec battle. This had the audience on the edge of our seats as we cheered for our chosen captain. I was on Ants side (losing side) and was quite disappointed to see the other side of the audience cheating by holding up the giant balls which had to be past to the front of the arena for us to win. That’s my competitive side coming out though.
The final stage of the show was Win the Ads. A lovely chap from Clayton, Manchester was chosen at random by the supercomputer to take part. After the first round his teenage daughter was persuading him to stick with the prizes he had won, luckily he listened to his wife and went on to win all of the prizes including a car and a holiday (I was slightly jealous!).
The show ended with non-other than Ant and Dec and the rest of the cast performing ‘Let’s Get Ready To Rumble’ and a compilation of other 90’s dance ‘hits’.
We had such a fantastic night. I would definitely recommend that anyone watches this tour. I would rate it 5/5.
