Attending an evening of burlesque at Stockport Plaza Theatre is an experience that elegantly blends glamour, humour, and a dash of cheeky irreverence. The historic art deco surroundings of the theatre provide a perfect backdrop for a night steeped in vintage charm and vibrant energy. From the moment you step into the Plaza, you’re transported back in time, with the ornate décor and plush seating creating an intimate and nostalgic atmosphere.
The performers were nothing short of spectacular, each bringing their own unique flair to the stage. The mix of classic burlesque routines—complete with feather boas, glittering costumes, and sultry striptease—alongside comedic skits and musical interludes kept the audience thoroughly entertained throughout the evening. The show was expertly paced, balancing moments of high-energy performance with softer, more seductive acts, ensuring that there was never a dull moment.
What stood out most was the inclusivity and warmth that permeated the event. The host, with her quick wit and engaging banter, made sure everyone in the audience felt welcome and included in the fun. The performers also embodied a sense of body positivity and empowerment that added depth to the spectacle, making it not just entertaining but also uplifting. I particularly enjoyed when the host and the performers invited guests up to the stage to be apart of the performance. The audience went wild for these parts in the show.
The variety of acts was very captivating and there was something for everybody to enjoy. I really enjoyed the carousel horse act performed by Isabella Bliss. This was very elegant and her costume was phenomenal.
Stockport Plaza’s staff were friendly and accommodating, adding to the overall positive experience. Whether you’re a seasoned fan of burlesque or a first-time attendee, the evening offered something for everyone—a celebration of art, humour, and the human body in all its forms.
I attended the show with my husband, we are both huge fans of live performances and were quite excited to watch our first burlesque performance. It was wonderful to see such beautiful dance performed by gorgeous ladies (and a gentleman) in such spectacular costumes. I was very envious of their skills and the attire they were wearing. We had a wonderful evening from start to finish and we didn’t want it to end.
In summary, An Evening of burlesque at Stockport Plaza Theatre is a delightful escape into a world of glittering glamour and playful performance. It’s a night that promises to entertain, inspire, and leave you with a smile on your face long after the final curtain call. This was my first burlesque performance and it certainly won’t be my last. I would rate it 5/5 and cannot wait to return next time. As I attended with my husband, I would love to return with a group of female friends next time. I’ve already started making plans for next year to attend!
The show run time is just over 2 hours with a 20 minute interval.
