I was sent the Mid Life Crisis Tin from Brainbox Candy to review. It was well wrapped in a generously sized box, to ensure that it didn’t suffer any dents or damage in the post.
It was clear from the compliment slip sent with the item that these guys have a very tongue in cheek sense of humour and this product very much reflects that.
The tin itself measures 10.5cm x 9.5xm x 6cm and is a vibrant red colour with contrasting yellow, white & black writing. The top and sides of the tin had the “Mid Life Crisis Fund” writing on them and the top also had an arrow pointing to the slot saying “Donations Welcome!”
I was pleased to see that the tin had a sturdy feel to it and that there was a hinged lid (no opening this with a tin opener when you want to get at your cash!) and that the slot on the top was generously sized. I tested the size of the slot with a £2 coin which easily fitted, meaning every denomination of coin could be saved.
At first glance the tin seems quite small so I deposited some coins to get an idea of how much you might be able to save. I put six coins in (£1 & £2) and they looked quite lost at the bottom so it’s clear that this tin will accommodate more money than it might initially seem. In fact (assuming you’re not just putting in copper coins) I would guess that you could get around £200 in all together – a decent sum to dampen down that Mid Life Crisis!
This tin would certainly be a chirpy alternative to a glass jar when you’re looking for somewhere to stash your spare change and at £6.98 it would only make a small dent in anyone’s funds (Mid Life Crisis variety or not!). At that price it would make an ideal gift which would be suitable all year round, though it also screams Secret Santa to me.
In summary, a quirky, tongue in cheek product that also has a practical purpose. That makes it a winner with me.
