I can’t remember when I have enjoyed a pantomime so much!!
We had an absolutely fantastic time last night at the Grove Theatre in Dunstable watching the Christmas panto, Aladdin from Those Magic Beans. The entire cast were fabulous. The principal characters gelled so well together and had lots of fun on stage, their enjoyment was infectious.
Brian Capron was the really evil Abanazar, so credible. Aladdin, Joe Ashman, and Princess Jasmine, Olivia Chan, were great and sang so well together. Widow Twankey, played by Kieran Sutcliffe was brilliant and wore some very creative outfits. Ed Petrie was excellent as Wishee Washee, he was really funny and got up to mischief on stage. Sarah Jameson, as the Genie was fantastic playing both The Genie of the Lamp and her sister The Slave of the Ring, she totally threw herself into the part.
Widow Twankey, Wishee Washee and The Genie together did an absolutely fantastic rendition of The Twelve Days of Christmas, a very fast and energetic performance. We thoroughly enjoyed it as I am sure did the rest of the audience. These three appeared to just feed off each other on stage the whole time, we laughed so much at their jokes.
Jacob McIntosh did a great job as the dance captain, so many young dancers performing on stage together. The ensemble danced really well in their numbers with Jacob McIntoch and Dominic Hansford also as the Palace Guards.
All the costumes were very authentic as was the scenery, and the scene changes were very slick.
The journey from Old Peking to Abanazar’s Palace made me feel as if I was on the magic carpet with Aladdin and The Genie, well you really must come to see her part in this! There are so many parts of this pantomime you really must see ~ we loved the ballet performance at Abanazar’s Palace, it was brilliant, again we laughed so much.
From the front of house staff, the cast, to the backstage crew, everything regarding this performance was excellent tonight.
I can thoroughly recommend this pantomime for a family outing over the Christmas period, it was excellent and I enjoyed every minute of it. I can’t remember when I have ever laughed so much at a pantomime!!
A must see family pantomime this Christmas!
