I’m always in awe of crafty, creative people (not being one myself!) and so I was absolutely thrilled to be given the opportunity to review some items from the very talented and quirky AB Crafts by Alison.
I was absolutely delighted when a little box full of goodies arrived through my door. Beautifully wrapped in colourful tissue paper inside a little cardboard box. Inside the box, I found:
2 large clip-in hair bows
2 smaller, glittery clip-in hair bows
2 pairs of Gonk earrings
My daughter was very pleased with the large hair clips, one adorned with teddy bears and the other with pretty hearts. These, along with the pair of smaller white iridescent glittery hair clips were right up her street and she will be sure to wear them to the endless birthday parties that she gets invited to. She’s at the age where she adores pretty, girlie accessories (especially pink ones) and as Alison says on her packaging ‘Life needs more pretty things’ and I couldn’t agree more! The bows are attached to silver-coloured crocodile-type clips, which slide easily into the hair and have a good grip. I always worry about standard hair clips falling out and getting lost, but these ones had ‘teeth’ on them, which gave them a good grip and they stayed put in her fine hair.
I was really taken with the Gonk earrings (one set in baby pink and one in Magenta), they are completely different to anything that I’d normally wear. But, as the saying goes, you only live once. So, I popped them in and off I went and they certainly raised a smile, which is very much needed these days! I usually wear stud earrings, but these ones are dangle/ drop earrings, so it’s almost as though the earrings come to life as you move. The Gonks are set in bronze-coloured metal, which hook through the piercing and have a small rubber stopper to prevent them falling out.
Since the Covid days, I’ve been a really big fan of letterbox gifts and will often send my friends little treats in the post to make them smile and the items available from AB Crafts by Alison, fit the bill perfectly. I’ll definitely be recommending AB Crafts by Alison to my friends and family. The hair clips have an RRP from £2.50, which I think is really reasonable for items like this, which have been handcrafted. The earrings have an RRP of £5 per pair, again I think this is really reasonable and competitive with high street brands, but I don’t think you can put a price on quirkiness!
