A Festive Brew with the English Tea Shop Review

Reviewed by Julia Allen

The UK is the third largest tea drinking country in the world (behind Turkey and Ireland) so its no surprise that there are plenty of tea gift set available this Christmas. We were lucky enough to received two sets from the English Tea Shop to try out.

The English Tea Shop create teas that are organic, hand-picked (to reduce carbon footprint), sustainable and Fairtrade.

The English Tea Shop Christmas collection is an exciting journey into tea. Generally I drink tea you get from the supermarket with milk and ½ a sugar. Sometimes splashing out and having English Breakfast Tea in a posh cafe. I’m a real coffee snob and haven’t really explored tea until now. I decided to have one new tea a day without reading / researching the information supplied on the packaging.

The Christmas Organic Tea Collection (RRP: £9) comes with 36 tea bags in Christmas blends in pyramid style boxes. They smell gorgeous when brewing. Fills the kitchen with wonderful aromas including cinnamon, clove, gingerbread and orange – a combination of regular tea and green tea. Super healthy alternative to drinks made with milk. My personal favourite was Sleigh Ride from this collection – green tea with cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, cloves, nutmeg and pepper.

From the Premium Holiday Collection Red Gift Tin I can’t choose between peppermint candy (green tea with orange, cinnamon, chicory, vanilla) or Berry Rooibos (rooibos tea with apple, raspberry, blueberry, cranberry and cinnamon). The price point is amazing at £10.50 for 72 tea bags in 9 different blends. I was really surprised at what an affordable gift this would be for a tea lover. Ideal for stocking fillers or secret Santa. The large tin is a great keep sake and a real festive treat. It would even make an ideal countdown to Christmas if used like an advent calendar. I’ve definitely got the tea bug and will be buying more for myself and as gifts.
