With summer on its way and outdoor eating currently very common place anyway, lunch bags are a daily necessity in our household. Having never used any of Frugi’s products before I was keen to try their new Snack a Pack Lunch bag. This item has been designed as part of their National Trust range and the company have committed to donating at least £15,000 from sales to the National Trust to ‘help look after nature, beauty and history for everyone forever.’ This extends further the 1% of the company’s turnover donation to charity each year through their Little Clothes BIG Change project.
The parcel arrived well packaged up with the item in a clear bio degradable bag to keep it from any damage in transit. Nice to see that the brand continues its environmentally conscious approach within its own packaging. Several cardboard labels advertise the ethos of Frugi with its eco friendly approach and use of organic cotton. A fun fact is also given that 3 plastic bottles are used to make each snack a pack bag, one I’m sure older children will enjoy knowing.
The lunch bag itself is immediately child friendly with bold colours within its design. The overall pattern of a puffin and seal print and yellow edging is inspired by the National Trust’s ‘50 things to do before you’re 11 ¾ activities’ list to celebrate coastline wildlife. It certainly does just that and looks fun, whilst stylish enough to carry out and about as a parent. The bag itself is made from 100% recycled polyester with a PVC coating for added protection. The inside main section has a foil lining with foil inserts to help keep food fresh for longer. I found adding a few reusable ice cubes kept this nice and cold all day so no worrying about food going off when enjoying the outdoors. There is also a smaller front pocket, ideal for tissues, child cutlery or snacks. The dimensions of the lunch bag are approximately 21cm x 18cm x 7cm. All in all it’s just about the right size to pack all food and a water beaker for your child for a fun day out! Its easily wipe clean too and would be ideal not only for outdoor day trips but even a camping trip to store items needing to stay cold.
There is a cloud name tag on the back allowing you to personalise to your child and hopefully avoid any losses or mixups. For those that enjoy matching their child’s items, there is also an adventure back pack in the same pattern, creating the perfect luggage items for school or even for snacks and space for a child to pack their toys for a night or two away in the outdoors.
My only addition would be an extendable shoulder handle linked to the current handle to allow for additional ways of carrying as I have found this very useful on previous lunch bags when carry many items as we often do as parents.
I would give this product a rating of 4 out of 5.
