Lyngo Theatre have very bravely taken on Jack and the Beanstalk is a much loved classic which has never grown old over the years and it is one of my 7 year old daughters favourite stories so being offered tickets to review the show was a dream come true!
Lyngo is a children’s theatre company based in the UK which uses fun, imagery and poetry to help children and adults relate to the tale they are telling (see www.lyngo.co.ukfor more details).
We arrived at The Lowry, in Salford Quays, Manchester, 10 minutes prior to the show beginning and am glad I did as there was a small mix up with our tickets when we arrived. This was soon sorted but the fabulous reception team and before we knew it we were sat in a cosy, dark studio waiting for the show to begin.
The Lowry website didn’t really give me any clue as to what the show might be like so was really pleased when Patrick Lynch stepped out on stage and began his ‘one man’ interpretation of Jack and the Beanstalk.
Patrick is much loved in our house as he used to be a regular on one of my daughters favourite Cbeebies shows Razzledazzle!
Kate was in complete awe and barely moved for the entire show, she was mesmerised by the props and also by Patrick a little (she was a little star struck).
Patrick very cleverly told the story using many props, mood lighting and a few surprises which I will not give away as it will only spoil the show for you.
The show itself was funny and Patrick really did well getting the audience to participate, the whole room was alive! Never before have I been to a show where I get water and magic beans thrown at me but without a doubt it made the whole experience more enjoyable!
A truly magical show which you need to see!!
I must point out that the evening before I checked the Lowry website and discovered the Manchester Marathon would be closing some roads and I am thankful that The Lowry posted this information as it could have meant we missed the show.
My husband came along to support me as Kate is autistic and can sometimes find places like this a little daunting for her. We found the prices to be extremely reasonable £8.50 for his ticket.
Get booking as you will not be disappointed!
