I was chosen to review this vacuum cleaner just at the right time as my usual well known branded cordless vacuum is on its last legs, but it’s been well used with me having two dogs.
The Hoover cordless pet vacuum cleaner arrived in fully environmentally friendly recyclable packaging, each item is then individually packaged within the box. The main body of the vacuum is black with an ocean blue accent colour, and comes with one removable battery pack, a UK charging plug, a small wall mount, and a variety of tools such as a crevice tool, pet tool, 2 in 1 dusting/upholstery tool, the main cleaning head, a very handy cleaning brush tool to clean the tools themselves and finally a user pamphlet with picture instructions.
The instruction are very easy to follow. But you really don’t need them as it’s easy to work out that the pieces just basically clip in. The vacuum comes with some charge in the battery but it’s advisable to give it a full charge before use, this only takes 3.5 hours which should then give 30 minutes of use, more than enough to vac a full house. There is a great light up display on the top of the main body showing how much remaining charge in green segment’s and when very low goes to red. The on/off button and turbo button are also situated here. I know that if using the turbo function a lot on a vac this cuts the usage time down. It can be used on hard floors and carpeted areas.
When powered on it sounds quite quiet, it didn’t feel very powerful suction wise but this must be how it has been created as it certainly picked up extremely well, even right up to skirting board edges and near the ridges of rugs/doormats.
The vacuum head is very manoeuvrable as stated and you can easily get right under a sofa, as it bends 180 degrees. The main vacuum head and the pet head both have a front light which are not only great for those dark areas around the home, but it really shows up those straying dog hairs your about to clean up that I certainly didn’t see by eye.
The vacuum is lightweight weighing only 2.63kg and the collection cylinder holds up to 0.7ltrs before it requires emptying, this is easily done by holding over the dustbin and pressing the front button to release the cylinders base, I had to give it a little tap to fully empty it. I was impressed that the main head has a flip up top to easily remove and clean the brush roll when required. It also uses two filters which are easy to remove.
The small wall mount is easily attached via the screws included and the vacuum just simply slots on it to store it out of the way, you have to manually plug the charging adapter into it each time you need to charge it which is a bit of a pain, or you can fully remove the battery with one click and charge it that way, some other brands have the adapter fitted within the wall mount as well as storage for tools, which to me was the only gripe I had with it.
The Hoover Cordless Pet Vacuum Cleaner with ANTI-TWIST would make an excellent Christmas gift for someone, especially if they are just starting out or if like me, they have mobility or other issues that make them unable to manage an upright vacuum, this would be ideal, and it currently has £70 off on the Hoover website.
