Diversity!!! at Oxford new theatre with my daughters (9,11) Wow!!! what an Amazing opportunity to get to go and see our favourite dance troop Diversity live!!!!! I was so, so excited and my daughters faces when I told them, they were going to see them performing.
On arrival we were greeted and made very welcome the hostess, staff were very accommodating, we ordered drinks at our seats and were waited on for drinks and scans with an app once in the theatre.
There are two bars and a kiosk which are well stocked with drinks and snacks. The theatre is very traditional and with a modern twist on the stage. The access for disabled is brilliant with lift and slopes to stage.
Diversity kept us waiting with lots of anticipation and the audience was a sheer buzz of excitement and chanting especially awaiting the opening act! Wow!!!
Their performance was completely faultless and the way that they connect as a team is second to none. They make it look effortless whilst their composure and facial expressions and movement to the music timing is phenomenal.
We were captivated from the start, our eyes were fixated on all of the movements and the way they work as a team and interact with the audience we really felt a part of the act.
Our favourite performer of the evening was Ashley Banjo he was so dramatic and his moves were so disjointed but smooth in a way you would never be able to disconnect your body and reconnect never mind the speed he is able to and move his whole body at the same time.
Curtis Butler was superb as soon as he burst on to the stage and erupted with his moves and flips and body popping.
Perri Kiely was absolutely insane with his dance moves and his incredible ways he’s able to interact with the audience with such Wow!
The whole dance troop and the scene changing actors were all just so seamless and transparent in every single movement or fixture in its right place.
Moving on to the rain production OMG!!! Wow, Wow this is so dramatic and what magic!! Well what can I say, how amazing were they! Each Individual dancer on the stage brought so much energy and passion to the stage and worked together with such embrace to the sound and vision around them.
A special mention needs to go to the girl who played the lead role (I am unsure of her name) she was spectacular, absolutely on form and played her part amazingly, wish I could do ballet as well as her with so many spins and the control immense! My girls were absolutely in awe of her personality and performance.
What I liked was actually seeing on scene the way they are all treated equal in the dance squad the connection even when they move stage or props the Respect 10/10 and nice to see the behind the scenes brought more in to the act and respect their hard work.
Within this show you get to see the amount of different dances they can all actually do from ballet to gymnastics and to show the core of the dancer’s individual Raw talents
Very powerful scenes throughout and the way that Ashley is able to incorporate his dance moves and the music and sounds and lighting and effects and bring the troop together and mesmerise the whole audience that really is some Raw human Talent.
Overall we all had a fantastic evening and felt that this show is suitable for the whole family, its got some very dark acts so I’d say maybe 10+ but depends on child.
Diversity have also confirmed that they will be supporting Anti poverty charity the Trussell Trust, which provides emergency food and support to people they have buckets to place donations in on the doors for those wanting to donate.
This is a Must see as its overall performance was Insane!!!!
Rating: 5/5 without doubt
