Sustainably Grown Flowers Delivered to You | The Real Flower Company (realflowers.co.uk)

I was really happy to be chosen to write this review, I love a bunch of fresh flowers in the house, they make me happy and add a ray of sunshine to a dull day.

The Real Flower Company offer lots of different bouquets, plants and gifts in a range of different sizes, options and prices to suit your budget.  The company started in 1999 with a ethos to get fresh, beautiful, wonderfully scented flowers directly to their customers.

The bouquet was delivered in a stunning box, beautifully branded and in their signature colours and subtly marked with their logo.  The box comes tied with a gorgeous green ribbon and is a really great size (big enough for my 7 year old to climb inside and of course close the lid) this gives the flowers plenty of room during transit and hopefully helps to minimise damage.  Once you open the box there is an inner cardboard liner that supports the bouquet, lifting out from both sides you can lift the bouquet out of the box and have a look at the stunning blooms.  When you open the box the first thing you notice is the wonderful scent that floods out, it’s simply stunning and screams luxury from the start.  Next you notice the sheer size of the bouquet, it is probably the biggest bunch of flowers I have ever had and the putting together of the bouquet and artistry arranging them is a feast for the eyes.

The bouquet comes with a note card for you to write a personalised message to your recipient when you place your order.  You will also receive a card with care details and I had 3 sachets of flower food to keep the bouquet looking fresh for as long as possible.  When you take the flowers out of the box you will find a beautifully wrapped bouquet that has been arranged and tied with care, there is another stunning ribbon around the stems of the flowers holding the paper together.  The bouquet is wrapped in a green paper and inside is a thick hydrated bag that keeps the blooms hydrated during transit.  The bunch is held in place with raffia, this holds together the arrangement and you can either cut the stems and place them directly in a vase or untie the raffia and if you prefer arrange them yourself. When you cut the stems be prepared to need something stronger than scissors, I needed a pair of secateurs to cut through some of the thicker stems to get them all to the same level to go into the vase.

I did have a few issues with the bouquet I was sent, some of the flowers came bruised and were wilting within three days and dropping petals.  I had a look on the website for The Real Flower Company to check their policy for freshness and they say that the blooms should be good for 5 days, Unfortunately mine weren’t, having contacted them they were happy to send out a replacement after seeing the photos that I had sent to them and the new bouquet arrived.  This time slightly different – as stated on their website, some times they will have to substitute flowers due to what is available, but the end result will always be stunning and worth sending to someone special or ordering for yourself.
The second bouquet that came had a couple of bruised petals – expected on a white or cream flower, the whole bouquet has lasted a couple of days longer than the first and is starting to wilt at day 5 instead of three.

I do think these flowers are a little pricey, they have not lasted as long as I would hope for a bunch of cut flowers, my central heating is not on.  I have followed the care card and instructions and have kept them out of the light and changed the water etc.  For a 5 day bouquet I think the £72 RRP is a little steep, and I would be a little disappointed if I had sent them to a friend or relative and they had received a bouquet that they then needed replacing.

I will say however that the replacement process was easy and having a second bouquet does make up for the first not being so good.

Overall I think this company delivers a beautiful arrangement of flowers, they are a premium bouquet with a stunning fragrance and if you are looking to impress you couldn’t go far wrong on first appearances for a Christmas gift for a loved one in your life.  However I think I got unlucky and was left feeling a little disappointed, great customer service helped to make up for this.
