The hardback diary is A5 which is about 15.5cms x 21cms and has the RHS logo on the front along with an attractive photo of an orange flower “Tithonia rotundifolia” an image credited to RHS / Helen Yates.

The first page gives you information about the RHS and their gardens as well as how to join information.  Then follows a section for your personal information and emergency contacts and notes.  This leads to a year to view per page for 2024 and 2025, then a page of listed notable dates for 2024, going on to a page per 3 months with a short line for each date in each vertical column.  There is double page for ‘Priorities’ before the calendar itself begins.

Each month begins with an A5 photo on the left and a lined page for notes on the right.  This then progresses to an A5 page per week with a photo on the opposite side.  The space for each day is 14cms x 2.5cms which is a blank space and not lined.  The week number is at the top of each page and the date and day clear, the image credit is at the bottom of each page, useful if you’re curious what the name of the flower is!  The photos are described as ‘stunning’, I felt some of the photos lacked clarity or focus and were a little more standard than I had expected, this added to the dull finish left me feeling a little disappointed overall.

The pages are matt not gloss, which means some of the photos look a little dull although I can’t see how this could be done differently without making the diary paper harder to write on.

At the end of the diary there is a repeat of the page per 3 months, this time for 2025, then a couple of pages for address and phone numbers.

Danilo as a company are committed to making all of their products fully recyclable.  The diary has the FSC logo, made from paper from responsible sources, with the paper widely recycled.

At £10.99 this is the standard price for an A5 diary on the website.  For me, although standard, this is a little on the expensive side, with packaging an additional 99p for 48 hr tracked through to £8.99 special next day delivery.

The diary would be a lovely Christmas gift for a supporter of the RHS or lover of flowers perhaps looking for a personal desk style diary.

I probably wouldn’t purchase this diary as it is more of an occasional personal than a working diary.  The reasons for this are I prefer more room for notes each day and personally as a working busy person I need a diary to be more practical.  I like lines to keep my daily appointments clear, more room for general notes at the back and a fastener or some description to hold my diary together.

If you are looking for a personal use diary to write in birthdays, maybe your shifts or the odd appointment then this will absolutely serve this purpose, although so would a slimline diary.  You would be choosing to have an A5 photo on each opposite page and a bigger diary through preference but not necessarily practicality.
